In theory, yes, but they'd have to want to be a write in in many states in order for it to happen.

I agree with nate, but there are a lot of problems with write-ins. For instance, I heard that in Missouri, write-in votes will not even be counted unless the person being written in has expressed his intent to run. My impression from what I heard (and this may not be correct) is that the write-in candidate would have to express such intent in EACH individual county just to have his votes counted . . . .
