Hello Freedomphiles! One last update on the story of Jayci Yaeger, who I have been blogging about for awhile now. If you recall, she was dying of cancer, and she wanted her father to be at her side. Jason was serving the last year in his meth sentence at a minimum security prison, where the warden would not let him go to her, even though the rules gave him the leeway to grant the leave in "extenuating circumstances."

I and a zillion other bloggers sent this news out across the blogosphere, and you responded by deluging the warden with calls, letters, and emails. He finally relented and let Jason see his daughter, just two days before she finally succumbed to cancer.

The only hurdle left was for the warden to allow Jason to go to his daughter’s funeral. I offered every hope that our actions on Jayci’s behalf would be well-remembered by the warden. It was:

Jayci Yaeger lost her battle with brain cancer last Friday. Her wish to see her father captured headlines and hearts all over the world. Her father, Jason Yaeger, has one year left on his five and a half year prison sentence for meth charges. He is serving time at a Federal Prison Camp in Yankton, SD.

The warden allowed Jason to visit Jayci briefly at a Lincoln hospice two days before she died. The warden also allowed him to attend the funeral in a small town south of Lincoln. Jason got to spend an hour alone with Jayci before the services, attend the funeral and gravesite services.

Definitely a bright spot in an otherwise dreadful story. Thanks for your efforts. Full story here (http://www.action3news.com/Global/story.asp?S=8104178&nav=menu550_1).
