I keep pointing out how well Medicare and Social Security "works". I also point out how the federal goverment removes money from Social Security and replaces it with IOU notes from the US treasury to pay for things. I think the last withdrawl was $87 million.

(Thanks to Jack Cafferty).

You could also point out creating a larger federal goverment just encourages stupid behavior by people like Bush.

Honestly, I love the insanity people have with having universal healthcare. Its more a sign of desperation than actually changing the system. If we didn't have to deal with the FED or income taxes I don't think universal health care would be an issue.

But who am I to question Hillary's "truthiness"?

Don't know if that is correct. They have been running ads on radio stations in California informing people how to get food stamps via an 800 number. The ads were paid for with out tax dollars to spend more of our tax dollars via the department of agriculture. It sickened me that someone saw the need to make it easier to give away free money to people.

Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time before they try to universalize school lunch to include parents.

See their "logic" for expanding Clinton's child health insurance to include parents.

Nah, forget the food paste. Here's the choice of food for our next generation:

Universal health care is to medicine what the Fed is to finances. Politics decides what your health is going to be. Yeah, that's real smart.

In Rhode Island it is! God, Providence basically throws em out the windows! 10% of RI is relying on Food Stamps. NYTimes (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/31/us/31foodstamps.html?_r=2&ex=1364616000&en=36b38807e273aba1&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&oref=slogin&oref=slogin) article

I agree and hate that my money is given in this way. What I hate most about Universal health care, is that everyone will be FORCED to be on it! Free market medicine will be out the window. The problem is much, much more severe than stealing my money and giving it those that suck off of our gov. teet.

Not only will it be forced on you, HIllary promised some sort of "enforcement mechanism" to universal health care as well. I'm not sure if that means fines or something additional to your taxes.

Whenever I try to talk about why big government is bad, I always use this example: say the government is bacon. Now, there are 2 types of bacon: bacon A which is the cheap one and has low quality (big government) and bacon B which is the expensive one and has high quality (small government). If you like greasy and fatty bacon, go with bacon A but if you like to have all that fat trimmed, go with bacon B. So, my motto would be: "the government bacon has too much fat, trim it!". :D

The Romney MA version prevented the evil-doers from taking income-tax deductions, because, you know, people who can't afford health insurance should have more money taken from them.

Another way I try to shoot down the universal healthcare argument is by citing Singapore. Their system is more privatized than ours and they spend less (as a percentage of GDP) on healthcare than any other country with universal healthcare.

Maybe they'll just draft us all for the Iranian Invasion, so that way we can all get that care!

I just say "do you want the same people who were responsible for helping katrina victims responsible for your daughters heart transplant?"

that usually works
