I started a thread to discuss the politics of an article here (http://ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=13091).
but wanted to also mention an idea to discuss as a possible platform... so here is that idea reposted:
here is something for the ron paul campaign... revolutionary, compassionate...
a foodstamp type program operated out of WIC offices.
a non-profit funded by a corporation setup by the govt (a la CPB). this non-profit would be in charge of keeping the soil clean and tending the crops year round. the crops could be harvested and distributed to either food/soup kitchens or again WIC type offices.
this kinda builds on what ladybird johnson did.
of course all of this could be done better w/out the gov't
and just a non-profit driven by charity.
also, natural cures and vitamin sources could be harnessed as well and distributed through retailers at a discounted rate by this non-profit entit.y to fund their continued operations. i
n time, by cutting down on production costs through xeriscaping and perhaps even using volunteer or inmate (as much as i hate that we lock people up) labor the project could fund itself, and gov't would save massive amounts of money that would have been spent paying retail for groceries.
