View Full Version : Islam and Christianity

I've been reading many posts by Christians on here slamming Islamic beliefs, but don't you Christians realize that both religions share about 90% of the same myths? In fact, I think that Islam and Christianity are the most closely related religions than they are to any other religion (Judaism comes in a close second).

Anyone who believes in a God shall surely be put to death.

Don't folk realise there were shit-loads of Jesus and Mohammed types walking around with followers or 'discaplines' - these days we call them cult leaders and followers who have fallen victim.

Some caught on better than others. It all comes down to mental men (rarely it is a woman) attempting to position himself as a saviour or prophet, controlling others thoughts and actions... and yet still today we have people who believe in religions.. and people who go on to join other newer so-called religions such as Scientology.

Wake up people. Just 'cos your parents taught you something, doesn't mean you can't question it and come up with your own conclusions. I realise it's hard once your connection to God has been established (read: your soft-mind as a child was given a logic-bypass) but it can be done. You can beat the curse of indoctrinated religion.

Aside from your in depth researching (a la 'Kite-Flyer'), I don't believe anal sex with young boys is 'ok in islam'. As far as your reference with Christians doing this, I don't understand what you mean since it is (to put in your words) not 'okay in Christianity'. I don't think there is much connection between religious dogmas and the act of buttfucking, as you described, aside from the belief that was are sinners and do sinful things, no matter who or what your faith is.

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 Tbs. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
Zest of 1/2 lemon
3 egg yolks plus 5 egg whites
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
3/4 cup ricotta cheese
5 Tbs. unsalted butter, melted
1 pint blueberries
Confectioners’ sugar for dusting

In a batter pitcher or bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, granulated sugar, salt and lemon zest. Set aside.

In another bowl, lightly whisk the egg yolks. Whisk in the buttermilk and ricotta. Whisk the yolk mixture into the flour mixture until well combined; the mixture will be lumpy. Set aside.

In another bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff but not dry peaks form. Using a rubber spatula, gently stir the whites into the batter in two additions.

Put 1/2 tsp. butter in each well of a filled-pancake pan. Place over medium heat and heat until the butter begins to bubble. Pour 1 Tbs. batter into each well, place 4 blueberries in the center of the batter and top with 1 Tbs. batter. Cook until the bottoms are golden brown and crispy, 3 to 5 minutes. Using 2 wooden skewers, turn the pancakes over and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3 minutes more. Transfer to a plate. Repeat with the remaining batter and blueberries.

(It's the "Kite Runner".) For the record the child actors in the movie had to flee Afghanistan over anger about the rape scene. Worse they and their parents were lied to about the content of the movie. (No mention of the rape scene). One of the boys cried when he was told to pull down his pants and refused to do so. The jackasses at Paramount didn't even want to foot the bill for their escape. Overall Hollywood sucks. There are some good people in Hollywood but mostly they just suck. Never forget that.

"I think that Islam and Christianity are the most closely related religions than they are to any other religion (Judaism comes in a close second)."

As somebody who has studied judiasm, Christianity, and Islam in depth I strongly disagree with you.

Islam is mostly a hodgepodge of the pagan religion that existed in Muhammads time (the 5 pillars of islam were part of this), it also took elements from Zorasterism (ONly one god and muhammad his prophet is very close to what Zoraster and said about his god, verbatum except the name of the god was different and each individual claimed themselves as his prophet. Characters such as Jesus, Mary, Moses, and others are essentially taken mostly in name only and given completely different stories found in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Islam is more deeply influenced by the pagan religion of Mecca than Christianity. Islam's monotheism comes from Zoraserism and Christianity and thats about it.

As well, the Tanakh and New testament are considered curropted by the Jews and Christians so while they may read the Bible anything that doesn't jibe with Islam is disregarded. So even when Muslims and Christians do read the same texts from the bible they have radically different perpectives on what they read.

Fuck it, I'll just come out and say it, Muhammad was a sick phedophile, whole broke the rules of even his own religion (he had like 12 wives when his religion calls for 4. I will give him the progressive act of legalizing prostitution though by allowing temporary marraiges. Married Aisha at 6, consomating his marrage with her when she was 9. He was a racist hating blacks, called for the death of many jews, killed poets who revealed him for the charleton he was. Muhammad used his religion as a tool to gain money, sex and power. Muhammad united the arabs by military conquest.

The message of Jesus was different. He chose peace. It's actually interesting, one of my old professors told us of one of his old professors suggesting that when Jesus was giving the Sermon on the Mount/Plain he was actually giving a speech to the sicari or daggerment. They were also known as the zealots. Jesus at first may have thought about becoming the Davidic Messiah (many jews in Jesus' time believed in 2 or possibly 3 messiah's coming to help them in time of need, one a preacher, one a warrior. THe davidic messiah would be the warrior obviously). Remember when he said "I come not to bring peace but the sword" more or less. I am paraphrasing out my ass but you know what I mean. Jesus, however, decided to chose peace.

Oh and I am an athiest/agnostic...it depends on what side of the bed I wake up on in any given day.

You didn't study Christianity all too well, did you?

"You didn't study Christianity all too well, did you?"

I have read the bible 2 times. I have read the Nag Hammadi library, Dead Sea Scrolls, parts of the Jewish Mishnah and Midrash. My book shelf is filled with books on the historical Jesus and early Christianity.

I have taken at least 4 classes strictly on Christianity: Old Testament, New Testament, yet another NT class and History of Christianity.

I am no doctorate...yet, I find it funny you are trying to allude to my ignorance of Christianity when I have spent years studying the faith.

Oh and James M. Robinson, and Bart Ehrman are 2 of my favorite authors on early Christianity.

You know why I'm leaving the Ron Paul forums for good? It's because of discriminatory racists like the ones here. You're all retards who don't even know a single thing about the values of Ron Paul. Go ahead and call me a troll, because it is immature and stupid behavior on your part. I want you all to realize that this movement was full of retards who knew nothing about Ron Paul or how to even coordinate a functioning movement. One loss here and there and everyone leaves, like rats. Rational Thinker, I commend your rational thinking =), although I do believe that Islam and Judaism are more closely related than christianity. Also, referring to your private message, Yes. To everyone else, GO TAKE A POLISCI CLASS AND I BET YOU ANYTHING THAT HALF OF YOU WILL NEVER COME BACK TO RON PAUL AGAIN!

This is exactly why we need to stop discussing religion. Although this guy may not be the most desireable member, we do not want to drive people away. I think everyone, religious or atheist, should take a deep breath, and read the threads about religion on these forums. We cannot continue like this. We need to stop bickering about religion.

Some of us here do understand. We are trying to change things in the movement... some have only recently come out of the dark, as MicahNelson describes to me, they don't understand what it is to debate, and they don't understand tolerance.
