Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to post, but I was thinking someone here may have the info that could help me. The Ron Paul movement has been a true inspiration to me, and now I am moving away from academia towards pursuing a career in law in order to defend civil liberties and the Constitution.

Here's where I need the help/advice. I don't really know what kinds of organizations I should be looking at to get my feet wet to get a better understanding of the field. The ACLU is a little too lefty for me, and I think the internship with them could be damaging in the long run. Does anyone know of any organizations or groups that do anything civil liberties/Constitution or even something like intellectual property law? I can even do an unpaid internship this summer, I just want to get something for my resume. Thanks a bunch!

AFAIK The Institute for Justice (http://www.ij.org/) offers internship opportunities, if you're interested in fighting eminent domain abuse. Also, I'm not positive but The Institute for Humane Studies (http://www.theihs.org) might be able to assist you, or at least point you in the right direction.

maybe the Cato Institute?

If you're interested in Europe, there's always the Adam Smith Institute. http://www.adamsmith.org/

Or you could be Yongrel's assistant. I hear he likes pedicures and long walks on the beach.

I dunno if this is what you're looking for, but the Mises Institute does some cool stuff.

You might try your local Libertarian Party.

I'm of the opinion that the LP is an ineffectual bickering tank, but they might be able to offer something of interest to you.

Home School Legal Defense Association.

"To preserve and advance the fundamental, God-given, constitutional right of parents and others legally responsible for their children to direct their education. In so doing, we rely on two fundamental freedoms—parental rights and religious freedom. We advocate for these freedoms in the courtrooms, before government officials, and in the public arena. Additionally, we assist other educational organizations in similar activities, where possible and appropriate."
