WEB VIDEO OF THE WEEK: SPY CHIPS
An increasing number of marketers are apparently implanting Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) into products to monitor consumer behavior after they leave stores. The tiny chips, hidden unnoticeably in the product or its packaging, can be read though your homes walls, thereby allowing marketers to know exactly when and where you are using a specific product. Marketers claim it's completely legal, while opponents refer to them as "spy chips". Check out this website to see a short animated video depicting some of RFID's current capabilities: http://www.spychips.com/RFIDclothingstoredemo.html

I am actually planning on using RFID in the future. Right now the tags are about 10 cents a piece but the price will soon drop. When they get under 5 cents a piece, I will definitly switch over my stores and "free up" some labor dollars.

It really depends on which tags they are using. The ones I am looking at dont become active until they are rolled between two posts. At that time they activate and total up the entire basket, instantly. great for speedy checkout with low labor costs.

More money in my pocket....yahh.
