This is bizarre and frustrating.
Author Tim Carney was on CSPAN's "Washington Journal" (http://www.c-span.org/homepage.asp?Cat=Series&Code=WJE&ShowVidNum=9&Rot_Cat_CD=WJ&Rot_HT=206&Rot_WD=&ShowVidDays=100&ShowVidDesc=&ArchiveDays=30) today, 8/19.
He is the author of "The Big Ripoff: How Big Business and Big Government Steal Your Money." Here is Thomas Woods' review of the book (http://www.lewrockwell.com/woods/woods71.html).
Obviously this man knows a little something about the issue of corporatism. Evidently, so did the callers who all expressed deep discontentment with the political status quo. So what does he say when interviewed?
What's notable is what Carney DIDN'T mention.
He talked about the candidates who "can win," and whether they will do anything to address the problem. Evidently Huckabee is even a possible contender according to him.
The sentiment expressed by nearly ALL the CALLERS just SCREAMED OUT that this is why RP's message should be heard, but this guy was almost silent about him. Why? Because he "can't win." The interviewer read some clip from some newspaper saying that RP was among the candidates having no chance whatsoever, and this guy basically gave his tacit approval, by saying nothing.
(He mentioned RP a couple of times, but always in the context of he doesn't resonate, so he "can't win.")
This is like Alice in Wonderland when someone who evidently should know better, perpetuates the perception of who "can" and who "can't" win. Shame on Tim Carney.
