I've just become of age to vote a year ago, so this will be my first election, but I am going to vote for Ron Paul for sure.

I am a Democrat, switching Republican so I can vote for Paul in the primaries.

I've seen TONS of comments posted around the web about other people who are planning to do the same. One place where I saw many such comments was to the NYT caucus blog post on Ron Paul several days ago.

I am currently registered as a Democrat, however in light of Ron Paul, I will be re-registering as a Republican. I know of ALOT of former life-long democrats who are doing this. Now THAT RIGHT THERE sends a POWERFUL message when done in huge numbers.

I will. This will also be the first election I vote in. Last election I was 18, and from Texas. I saw no point in voting (I was from Texas and GW won Texas by over 71%). This time, however, I will most definitely vote even if RP wins by a landslide.

I dropped out of the "system" about a decade ago.

I'll be registering to vote in the GOP primary for Dr. Paul.

Anyway to find out each state's statistics for newly registered or updated party information? If there is a huge flood of registrations and updates that has to be news!

The second I am able to register to legally vote, I will. The second I am able to legally vote for Ron Paul, I will.

That's a really good question. I'll try and look into it in my state.

I'm not affiliated with any party but in about a week I have to get my license renewed and I'll be registering republican then. I wish there was somewhere where we could see how many people have joined the party recently. I'd be interested if they've seen a spike in registration numbers.

Count me in as another new addition to the Republican party all because of Dr. Ron Paul.

I'm a recovering neo-con, so I don't have to switch, unfortunatly. Don't hate the Idea of switching guys. Look at it like this, you're a spy behind enemy lines, exciting eh? I love this, it's cival disobedience of the best kind. Turning the entire party system against them. Priceless.

In Texas we don't have to declare ourselves either way, we just ask for whichever party's ballot we want to vote on in the primaries.

Sorta makes it a stealth attack.

I was invited to a small meeting of Libertarians last night and briefly discussed was whether it made tactal sense to change their party registration to Republican so they could vote for Ron Paul. The thinking was that RP is really a libertarian candidate on 95% of the issues, so having him be the Republican candidate would be a good thing. They mentioned that most Libertarian positions are uncontested so there's no advantage to vote in their primary.

One dillema was whether in the general election with Ron Paul as a candidate, should the Libertarian Party actually ask their members to throw their support behind Ron Paul instead of their own candidate. The answer I heard was "maybe."

Here, you just go to the local county courthouse and ask to have your registration changed. You can do it by mail too.

I'll be doing it next week.

I'm a Libertarian and will be re-registering as Republican.

There is currently a battle in the Libertarian Party between the purists (any deviation from Rothbardian anarcho-capitalism means you're evil statist scum) and the reformers (hey, let's try to get someone elected). I am on the reformer side. But yesterday I ran across a couple of libertarian purists who think Ron Paul is a hypocritical statist because he isn't ideologically anarcho-capitalist pure. I may stay with the Republicans and support the RLC, or I may go with the Constitutionalists. But I'm growing tired of the LP.

Update: Registering in California. You can request a registration form online from the California Secretary of State, or download and print out the form. You need to be registered fifteen days before the election.

I'm a member of the Constitution party and will re-register under the Republican party, which I used to belong to lol...

I know its kind of a lame way to go about it, but its easy and it works. MySpace has setup a centralized registration site at http://www.myspace.com/declareyourself

Just follow the prompts and send in your form.

Everyone, take some pepto or whatever people are taking these days for turned stomachs and do it. I've always hated Republicans (not that I was ever a Democrat either), but what I'm realizing now, is that what I have grown up knowing as a Republican is far from what it is supposed to be. Sadly, I know so many people that most likely will not look at candidates so much as they will parties, and I totally understand the hatred for the Republicans as they are now, and have been during my lifetime. We have to register as Republicans or he'll never get the nomination, and regardless of how popular he is or how much support he has, it will be over at that moment. The Republicans have given the party such a bad name, we need to find the best way to counter people's justly blind eyes at even considering one for office. Any ideas?

I'm probably an anarcho too, but that's just RIDICULOUS. What the hell are they waiting for? Let's try to put the cancer in remission first with the constitution, then worry about getting rid of the state. Let me guess, I'm sure you told them that, and it made no difference.

I am also in Florida. I am 17 and have my birthday at the end of the year. I still don't know what party I will register with. Of course if I register Republican it will be for Ron Paul. But there are several Democrates that I like. I will need to decide in December if I will vote for Ron Paul or a Democrate. My birthday is 12/27 and the primary is 1/29/08. It is very existing know that your state will be one of the first to vote.

Go to your state's Secretary of State office or the local county (probably) Board of Elections. Most have informative web sites. It's different in each state.

I generally lean more left than right myself, but the overall cast of Democratic candidates is somewhat more equal, when you compare the differences amongst those candidates with the differences between Ron Paul and the rest of the Republican candidates. Because of this, I'm going to vote in the primary for Ron Paul without a doubt. If he doesn't make it, then I'll simply look at who the Democrats decided to nominate; there's no one particular Democrat that I think needs my help the way Ron Paul does. (Though at that point I'd probably vote third party.)

It depends on what state you're in if you even have to reregister. Here in Illinois they just ask which ballot you want when you walk in to vote during the primary. I'm a registered Republican but I believe a registered Democrat could just ask for the Republican ballot instead of Democrat when they go to vote. There's no need to reregister in certain states.

Am I alone in believing that Closed Partisan Primaries should be abolished?!

I'm gonna have to register with the Republican Party here in North Carolina. I've been Unaffiliated ever since I became old enough to vote five years ago (a matter of pride with me, as I don't like to feel like I'm "owned" by a party). But I'll definitely defect for Ron's sake and for the future of the Republic!

I think parties should be abolished, so I suppose that means that I'm also opposed to closed partisan primaries.

I've never registered with anyone officially, just showed up to polls and cast my vote in the finals. This will be my first official registration with a party in 14 years of being able to vote. I've always wondered where a true debater is in the field of presidential politics. Ron Paul is finally that man, and I'm hooked. GOP primaries for me!

> Voter Registration: Our group is getting organized to understand
what it takes to change party affiliation and then we're planning to
get out messages such as "only 30 days to change party affiliation"
and "Only 15 days left to change party affiliation". My personal
belief is that this project alone could make the difference in Dr.
Paul's winning the primaries. (But then, I'm from the Bay Area where
most voters are Democrats and also very well read, illigent, and pro-
active. The Ron Paul sell is easy; our challenge is to get them to
send in their forms.)

Digg This Story! http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Operation_Republican_Caucus_Storm

now, while I'm opposed to their direction of JUST going after Republican voters (who are rapidly shrinking in number, due to our current dictator's performance and the war going south), I did notice that at least some of these pages have something interesting...

taking my own state, for example:

http://www.mdgop.org/

take a look at that yellow box on the right marked: "ACTIONCENTER" - one of the options is register to vote... I believe I've also seen one of those banners like for donations, myspace, youtube, etc. that you can paste into your page that does the same thing.

We need something like that, and should start encouraging people to put them on their pages. At worst, a page of online register to vote forms and info on when each states primaries are, who can vote in them and deadlines for changing your registration.

This is a lot better than paper forms, both have their place.

I re-registered republican after being democrat for many years just to vote for Ron Paul! I also got a middle-aged friend of mine who used to canvas the streets urging people to register democrat, now he'll stump for Ron Paul and re-register Republican. All I had to do was show him a handful of youtube videos and a couple printed speeches, and he was quick to sign on!!
