The district and state conventions also determine who will cast electoral votes for predident. Usually these are the most loyal party stalwarts... but every few years one will be a "faithless elector" that will cast their own vote instead of their state's majority. Sometimes casting a vote for a different VP takes place as a show of displeasure for how the party nomination worked out.

N.C. electors get fined $10,000 if they dont vote with the delegates. Our electors are elected at the District Conventions.

A cheap price to pay for liberty. Only $10,000?

thats what i thought... that basically leaves faithless electors confined to the rich. Maybe the GoP will stealth their own rich electors in place so that if Paul DOES win at the national convention, they have a bunch of rich electors that will vote MCain anyway and just pay the $10,000 fine out of petty cash.

How does one person casting one vote against the state's wishes bring liberty? If Ron Paul gets 1 electoral college vote, no one is going to care.

And I hate to break the reality to you, but most people...even most Ron Paul supporters are NOT going to willingly fork over $10,000 just to do this. Not everyone that voted for Ron Paul is as absolutist/black and white as some of the children on this board are.

most people who voted for Ron Paul do not think "If Ron Paul is elected, the US will triumph magnificently overnight. And if he is not, the US is be disbanded and absorbed into other countries." Because that is a STUPID thing to think.

If Ron Paul was elected to president, and even won re-election in 2012, you would still be paying income taxes in 2017...just to let you know. Drugs would still be illegal as well. The Federal Reserve would still exist.
