great article, read it.

"Not only does Paul talk the conservative talk, it seems he walks the conservative walk. He reported having raised $34.65 million since he launched his (get ready, Paulunteers) long-shot White House bid last year. Paul reported spending about $29 million as of Feb. 29. And he reported having an impressive $5.57 million cash left in the bank."

This is why we lost. He should have spent that 5 million on TELEVISION advertising back in January.

i have a feeling that money is still there for a very important reason that will be understood over the next 5 months.

its a microcosm of the nation. Mccain went into all kinds of debt (although im not sure about current status)

i bet we will hear about this as fiscal responsability over the next few months. I hope Ron blows it all on nationwide TV commercials the week before the national convention to speak directly to the delegates.

And go into debt like John McCain? Then who would pay it off? And you'd have to end the campaign early...

It seems in order to campaign, you gotta take out a loans. Look at Peden. He's now out some cool grands for his li'l pee contest. It also reminded me of a libertarian candidate who took out a mortgage on his house and lost anyway. It's practically as if loans were mandatory, so all this makes Paul all the more remarkable.

buying television ads for elections where diebold machines counts votes for straw polls would not be the best use of that money. Essential to afford to stay in the race and pick up real votes at caucuses for the conventions.

haha Peden went in debt to get 30% of the vote.

Like Paul said when he got 70%: "this proves that once the message is understood it is widely supported"

notice how Paul is getting all the airtime? It fits in perfectly as free advertising. Notice how they dont ask McCain about financial matters?

5 months left for Pauls message to leak out and "be understood".

$5M isn't enough to win an election. It is just enough to stay in the race, which is the point.

Exactly, and McCain WISHES he had a $5 million surplus right now. He's not campaigning because he's locked into the limits of the FEC rules pending a decision by their panel. Meanwhile Paul can keep the message and communication to the grassroots going through August, even without asking for more money.

Ron Paul has such a small HQ that he can keep going for a long time.

It worked for McCain. Going into debt smartly is often a way to better yourself. After all, most people don't buy their first hour outright. They get a mortgage. In other words, they go into debt. More debt than they have ever been in in their lives.

Are you suggesting that it is a bad move financially to do this? Should they continue pissing away hundreds of dollars a month to a landlord just becuase they can't afford to pay the full price of the house?

That money is doing absolutely no good sitting in Ron Paul's account.

Not to mention, that that is one of hte big reasons why his campaign gets less than $1000 every day now, and often gets less than $500. People who may otherwise donate are not going to when they see they he has all that money that he apparently does not plan on spending.

There is no secret plan to try to steal delegates before the convention. Ron Paul has absolutely NO intentions of doing this. He is too smart for that.

McCain doesn't NEED to campaign right now. He can sit back and let Hillary and Obama destroy each other. He doesn't need to say another word until that nomination is settled. It would do no good for him to campaign right now. Even if he had $100 million spendable dollars in his campaign's account he would not be doing anything right now. You don't campaign until you have an opponent.

Ron Paul is going to transfer all the presidential campaign funds into his congressional campaign coffer as he is allowed to do under applicable law.

Pretty sure that is going to be illegal. Besides, He already raised a million for his congressional election and won. He's running unopposed in general, so there's nothing else to do for his congressional election.

Try to do some homework before you post inane rumors, mmmkay?

it would be stupid to put it in the congressional campaign anyways, it would look like he was just in this race to fund his congress re election campaign.
