This is liable to be messy, but I've included 14 straw polls since March 2 through today. Because I'm including more candidates I'm using 100 as 1st place and decrementing 2. A score of 0 in any given poll means that candidate either wasn't included or, if they were, got no votes.

I'm saying there are four front runners, based on their relatively close scores: Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Rudy Guilliani (yeah, yeah I know) and Fred. The spread between the highest and lowest of that group is 122 points. McCain, 148 points behind Fred, leads up Tier 2. I'm calling everybody below Newt also-rans.

If you spot any errors or think I should have excluded any particular poll l'll consider your rationale.

I looks great to me.

Thanks, I'm working on a nicely formated table with links to the sources for the poll information. I may end up dropping a couple of them because the sample size was so small. I'll have it online sometime tomorrow. I need to sleep a little now.

There was another straw poll, in Tippecanoe County, Indiana today. Ron Paul tied for 4th with Huckabee. Story here (http://www.jconline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070818/NEWS09/70818008).

How about a simpler rating system? 5 for 1st, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 2 for 4th, and 1 for 5th? Placing lower than that isn't worth much.

Well, I'm tracking 18 candidates who have gotten at least a few votes in at least one poll. I'm trying not to treat people like they treat us.
