Ron Paul has called them "the only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington", and from what I've read on their website, I am wont to believe it. But is this a very active organization? I never hear anything about them, and they seem like a much smaller, more bare-bones organization than, say, the NRA.

Any GOA members here? If so, what do you think, and would you recommend that folks join up with them?

I just dropped my NRA membership and changed over to GOA.
Now I am wondering if I should just be a member of both.

NRA has been compromising our constitutional rights a little at a time.
GOA has never been seen to compromise in the least.

I agree on the GOA, shouldn't we reward them with our loyalty and send the NRA a message about compromising by not participating and sending them money?

The NRA is a hunting club.
GOA is a 2nd amendment rights defense organization. (The best of them, IMO.)

So, which is more important to you?

JWZguy pretty much summed it up;

The NRA used to be what the GOA currently is...but, over time, they've taken up a number of compromises, and now they've broken down into a hunter's rights organization, where as the GOA has emerged as the new "2nd amendment" organization.

Sadly, I don't think the GOA will ever have the chance to usurp the power of the NRA with the current condition of the country and where we're headed (and fast, too, I might add).

NRA has massive resources and many members, but GOA has the purity and loyalty....shame how things work out, isn't it?

Hell yeah you should join the GOA. Best gun rights group in America.

Also, if you are in NC, I'd also recommend Grassroots NC (http://grnc.org).
