this is a good gold buying/ dollar shorting opportunity.

everytime the fed has intervened (like today) the market responds favorably for one day and then strats to drop again. I doubt this time will be different.

Doesn't matter. Interest rates were lowered so the dollar will keep falling.

The US Federal Reserve (Fed) cut today its federal funds rate by a quarter of a percentage point, giving a boost to US stock markets.

The same thing happened last Monday. The next day all the things that were up, like the dollar, were down. Anyway, I expected this rally, and I expect that in a week's time we'll forget about this.

You meant to say 3/4 of a percentage point. The fed funds target was decreased from 3% to 2.25%

by 0.75 point

The federal funds rate — the interest that banks charge each other — is now down to 2.25%, the lowest point since late 2004.

Actually, the traditional way of saying it would be that the Fed funds rate was reduced by 75 points/basis points (1 point = 0.01%).
