I started reading the book American Creation, by Joseph Ellis. It's about the formative years, from post revolutionary war to the creation of the country as it is.

One section stood out which this group will enjoy. Madison believed the original Confederation Congress was too weak and needed to be scrapped entirely. This was a minority viewpoint but he worked hard before the upcoming Constitutional Convention in '87.

"For, as [defenders of the status quo] saw it, the calling of the Constitutional Convention had represented a hijacking of the political debate ... by an organized minority of alarmists, and now the Convention itself had been captured by a radical minority of the delegates".

Obviously we know the outcome. Our country was founding on a group of organized minorities working to create the best possible outcome. Later on Lincoln would be elected the same way, through an organized minority effort. So our grassroots victories still are all major.
