Anybody else catch it? It came on here in the Birmingham market at about 10:40 Central time. I caught the last three fourths of it. He seemed pretty relaxed and made a few jokes that drew laughs too. Also, he answered two of the three questions about fringe political candidates throughout history, and said he even know one of them (and these guys were about as fringe as you can get). He won some lady the prize for getting 2 out of 3. Overall it seemed like a good interview.

Anybody else catch it?

Here is the link to listen to it online.

I caught it riding my bike with my headphones on - Hilarious!

It was also great to hear so much applause, from likely a very liberal/democrat audience.

Is this in front of an audience or are those claps from sound tracks?

I am pretty sure that it is a live show. They sometimes bring people from the audience up for the contests or whatnot.

NPR certainly is giving Dr. Paul a lot of coverage.

NPR certainly is giving Dr. Paul a lot of coverage.

This show, Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, made it explicitly clear that they will invite any and all other candidates who accept their invitation onto their show.

I know Ron has gotten a few local NPR interviews.

Regarding National NPR, what follows is the only other RP appearance I know of so far:

Ron Paul on NPR All Things Considered 2007 July 25 (7 minutes, the first minute of which is the announcer's introduction)

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=12224561

Other than these two brief appearances, do you know of any other national NPR interviews RP has had so far?

To my knowledge, national NPR has not had much more to say about Ron Paul so far, except allegedly a comment that he was a "dark horse" or "Sanjaya":

Response to NPR- Ron Paul is NO Dark horse or Sanjaya

Thanks for the link....I love that show, but missed it today. It is a live and from what I've heard, pretty liberal audience. I emailed the link to my meetup group. Awesome! I love the way the commentator pointed out that he wasn't the media picked candidate, but still a strong contender.

Web link to NPR's audio for this clip:

NPR Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me 2007 Aug 17 (9 minutes)
Comedy radio show. Texas congressman and 2008 presidential candidate Ron Paul plays our game called "Unlike you, none of these guys had a meatball's chance in a dog pound." Three questions about fringe political candidates.

That's it - we've GOT to get Dr. Paul on The Tonight Show, or Conan O'brien, or Letterman, he'll be a smash hit there, and zillions of people will see him!

"Dr. Paul, thank you for coming on the program!"

"No, no , thank you. Thank you for wasting our taxpayers' money so that 17 people could hear me answer trivia questions about wackos."

I listened to the whole thing just to find out if he really said that.

He didn't, but he was very cool nonetheless.

I wouldn't be surprised if more people listened to NPR on Saturday than watch half of the mid day dribble on Fox Cable news.

Good morning:

First, I LOVE your show! I try to listen every week. I find it's a great companion while I'm out "volkswalking" here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

I just wanted to say "Thank You" for having Congressman Ron Paul on the program! I am an ardent supporter of his campaign. What a treat yesterday's show was - it was like paying for one scoop of ice cream and getting two! Wahoo!
