Want to debate FISA and expired portions of laws. Most objectors say it is setting public policy in private, others say it will scare the house into voting on their fears, Dennis Kucinich seemed quite angy and said he will not attend.

It's on CSpan now.

Last secret meeting was in 1983, there's been only 5 or 6 meetings since the 1800's.

Edit: it's a secret session the day before voting on the FISA bill.

Apparently the Politico has more knowledge of what is going on in Congress than C-SPAN, they said this a few hours ago and I posted it.

I apologize for the repost then. This is scary since the voting for the FISA bill is tomorrow.

I'm watching now and it is quite unusual. There has been only 3 closed sessions since 1835. I am getting the feeling we should be rather alarmed by it all.

Kucinich is now on... (well... "was", but he's on)

Edit: Has he gained weight?

Editx2: Now he's off...

Hmmmmm.....so the situation is that the administration has secret intelligence information that effects the FISA bill and they can only share it in secret. All of a sudden, after kicking this bill around for months, they want to share it the DAY BEFORE the vote? These SOB's are going to terrorize the Congress with bullshit "secret intelligence" to pass an aggressive FISA bill. And because they are only willing to share it in secret, Congress won't be able to talk about it. This smells like 3 day old fish.

I am definately getting vibes that they are going to say there is information on another pending "terrorist" attack.

Do you think the establishment will invite them all to the millionaire club?

The secret is that there are millions upon millions of people who where spied on illegally and the telcos will all go bankrupt and out of business over this.

Edit: and bush is on talking about how getting a court order is really not needed. Next I am sure he will say obeying the constitution is such a bother to his ability to spy on everyone and everything. Poor guy. He hates it when they tell him and his "professional" staff he can't be our dictator.

As much as we would love for this to happen, the only people who get punished for breaking the law are us.

I don't get it...WHO is meeting secretly? The whole House? Just the Republicans? Just the Democrats?

And if it's secret, why is it on CSPAN?

The House, and they just mentioned it was happening.

They were deciding if they should have the secret meeting or not, looks like it's going ahead tonight at 10PM EST. Talk about late night sneaky meetings.

We can sub telecom out to China for all I care, just hang whomever spies on us illegally.

Filibuster. Never sign a Bill when your shoes are covered with fresh BS.

C-span 2 is showing LIVE footage. Is this the private meeting?

I wonder what the point is. You can't get 450 representatives to keep their mouths shut about a secret.

I think it is the Bushies trying to scare them into letting them attack Iran.

Well, that does a hell of a lot of good to not show up to vote against it.

They can't vote because they are not in committee of the whole, they are under different rules.

Just read an article on the FISA hearing, it said, what was presented was nothing new and probably won't sway votes.
