McCain tries to invoke military opinion to justify his imperial ambitions but military opinion debunks his delusions:

Many people now will concede that going into Iraq was a mistake and they now hook the argument on why or how to leave. "Surge" failure/success is irrelevant because either result points to withdrawal (the surge goal was to allow us to leave) so people just need a reason why we will be stronger by leaving and some idea of a plan on how to leave:
