Dear organizers and supporters,

today we need you flood the Senate with calls about a very good amendment and a horrible bill.

The amendment to support is Sen. DeMint's amendment to the fiscal year 2009 Budget resolution imposing a one year moratorium on earmarks.

The one to oppose is Obama's S. 2433, the Global Poverty Act that would add ~845 Billion or 0.7% of our Gross National Product on top of the 300 Billion a year in foreign aid we already spend. While 0.7% may not sound like a lot, “Gross National Product” is not what the government brings in via taxes – here is the definition:

“The Gross National Product (GNP) is the total dollar value of all final goods and services produced for consumption in society during a particular time period. Its rise or fall measures economic activity based on the labor and production output within a country. The figures used to assemble data include the manufacture of tangible goods such as cars, furniture, and bread, and the provision of services used in daily living such as education, health care, and auto repair. Intermediate services used in the production of the final product are not separated since they are reflected in the final price of the goods or service. The GNP does include allowances for depreciation and indirect business taxes such as those on sales and property. “

If measured via taxes, it's probably 15-25% of the total Federal revenue per year. Can you say massive tax hike? Either that or running the printing presses overtime and further devaluing or plummeting dollar.

Also keep in mind that foreign aid rarely benefits the poor, but is usually hijacked and misappropriated by the governments receiving it.

S. 2433 was introduced in December 2007 www.thomas.gov .This was passed by committee on 2/19/08 by "voice vote". Slipped under the table out of public view. It is now out in the senate up for a vote. I called my senators (Dodd & Lieberman) they support it...unfortunately. They could vote on this as early as Friday.

Jim Peavey <box.fusion@verizon.net> wrote:
WHAT~!!! OMG~!!! Did the Senate vote on this yet? I didn't realize this was almost a "done deal"."

"Obama's costly, dangerous and altogether bad bill (S. 2433), which could come up in the Senate any day, is called the Global Poverty Act. It would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts..."

"The legislation, if approved, dedicates 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which over 13 years... would amount to $845 billion 'over and above what the U.S. already spends.'"

"The plan passed the House in 2007 'because most members didn't realize what was in it.' Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require."
"$845 BILLION is hardly a drop in the bucket and, yes, that's in addition to our Foreign Aid programs, which, in 2006, cost American taxpayers almost $300 BILLION!"

Congressman Paul has comprehensive legislation that would put an end to the unconstitutional bills being passed on Capitol Hill. One wonders why it's "languishing with only 2 or 3 co-sponsors".

We can get delegates, get Ron Paul candidates to run for office, pass out educational material and rally. Yet, why is it we can't call our Representatives and tell them to sponsor Ron Paul's Legislation? They have to be told (not asked) to co-sponsor this legislation and be reminded that "we voted them in and we can vote them out".

This isn't about "political preferences", "political expediency" etc. This is about the constitution, which they are sworn to "uphold, protect and defend against any enemies foreign and domestic" It is a fact the majority of our elected officials lack the even the most rudimentary knowledge of the constitution. Did you know that 70% of the legislation passed by Congress is unconstitutional? That's 70%!! . A great book to read, as a start is, "What You Should Know About the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights" by Dr. John Coleman (Constitutional Scholar of over 25 years).

I spoke with Ron Paul's congressional office today. We need to call our Representatives and tell them to co-sponsor, I was told that these 2 were "very important":

H.R. 1146 - "American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2007" which would get the U.S. out of the United Nations. Currently, it only has 3 co-sponsors. This bill is currently in the House Foreign Affairs Committee. (This would put an end to Obama's "Global Poverty Tax of 2007" and the Convention of the Law of the Sea Treaty (103-39) which they are trying to "backdoor" thru Obama's bill),

H.R. 3835 - "American Freedom Agenda Act of 2007" repeals the Patriot Act, restores Habeas Corpus etc. This has only 2 co-sponsors and has been referred to the sub-committee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.

I know we "can walk and chew gum at the same time". How long does it take to make a phone call to your Representatives? The SAVE Act is going to be passed this week due to "phones ringing of the hook" and sheer persistence and insistence. Remember, they are up for election now and they are going to need votes.

I've already called my Congressman regarding these. I've also e-mailed him. I plan to make my calls to him a "morning routine".

We can do this. Let's not let them marginalize him anymore and show them that he has a "revolution" behind him. We're the only ones who can get the co-sponsors needed for these bills.

Take it easy. It's only been introduced. The only thing we can do is contact the committee and tell them to never put it up for debate.

Next week he Senate will be voting on the 2009 budget. There are three amendments that you need to call the Senators about. Call everyday for each amendment.

Senator Charles E. Schumer, phone 202 224-6542, Fax 202 228 3027 Website schumer.senate.gov

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton Phone 202 224 4451, Fax 202 228 0282 Website
clinton.senate.gov

First is the one Burr announced in the Albany Meeting.

Contact senators Urge to vote YES to Tester Amendment for the Real ID act.

Instead of spending $50 million on real ID, Senator Tester's amendment would spend money on our nation's veterans.,ny

Second:

The amendment to support is Sen. DeMint's amendment to the fiscal year 2009 Budget resolution imposing a one year moratorium on earmarks.
Third:

Steve's Note: Obama's Global Poverty Act insures that everyone in the US falls into poverty, since the government is already going bankrupt in 20 years, he wants to spend as much as a war to help other nations while our country is falling apart.

Intermediate services used in the production of the final product are not separated since they are reflected in the final price of the goods or service. Anyone else find it interesting that a bunch of Senators who want to be President want to put an end to earmarks the last term before they become President? Could it have anything to do with the fact that they wouldn't want earmarks sapping the executive share of those mega appropriations bills?
