View Full Version : Doug Stanhope mentioned Ron Paul on Howard Stern
This morning, Doug Stanhope a comedian and libertarian was a guest on the Howard Stern show. The conversation turned political for a minute and when Howard asked Doug who he supported Doug said, "Ron Paul!"
He then followed up by saying, "I can't believe you Howard that you didn't back this guy?"
Howard said, "I mentioned that I really liked what he had to say, I liked his ideas, but I'm a Hillary Guy."
The final piece of conversation was asking if RP dropped out, Doug said he was still in it.
I thought that was fun. Although, how you could like Ron Paul and turn around and be a Hitlery fan? I'm not sure, apparently Stern's a hardcore democrat because they talked about celebrity donations later on and Howard was 96% democratic contributions over the last 20-30 years.

It seems Howard is very confused. I know a few years back he was very close to running as a Libertarian for mayor of NYC, but backed out when he discovered he'd have to disclose his finances. It's obvious he doesn't have much of a cogent political identity if he's now supporting Hillary, who stands against everything freedom-loving people are fighting for.

He's all over the map...he was for Rudy at one point.

Howard Stern supporting hillary? lol
i really thought howard was smarter than that. He said he agreed with everything Ron Paul said, on the air.
Now he's saying he's a hillary guy.
... yea, Ron Paul and Hillary have really close viewpoints howard...[/sarcasm]
I just lost alot of respect for his intelligence, i actually thought he was a smart guy.
I dont say this because he doenst back paul.. i say it because he doesnt even know why the hell he backs hillary... Doesnt she want to enforce harsher / stricter Broadcasting laws?

If anything, he is smart, by saying he agreed with everything ron paul says, btu thats hes a hillary guy. Translate that as...
"I would absolutely support Ron Paul, but my 96% democratic donations over the past 20-30 years would get no more donations if I said anything other than a democratic candidate".

Howard is not that political, he is obsessed with his radio show and is always working on it.
He also has not watched a single democratic debate, and says that he supports hillary because she and bill come as a package deal and he thinks that the clintons werent that bad.
He doesn't have an intrenched political ideology and doesn't really follow politics closely to tell you the truth, but on most opinion issues, he leans libertarian... abolish the FCC, lower taxes, legalize drugs, etc...

Howard spends too much time looking at porn to know enough about politics. He just wants to back a New Yorker.

Howard used to be more political than he is now. He ran for NY Governor on the Libertarian ticket in 1994 but dropped out supposedly because he didn't want to disclose his financial records. I think at some point in time he was told not to go against the political establishment because he actually has enough influence to effect the process if he wanted to. There is no other logical explanation for him hinting he likes Ron Paul but officially endorsing Hitlery.

Doug Stanhope is great. I saw him before the primaries began and he was talking Ron Paul during his show.

Howard Stern likes Hillary? Thats insane. Geez, if he was going to support a Dem over Ron Paul, you'd think he'd at least pick the "cool" Dem and support Obama.
Hillary gets her strongest support from old, uneducated white women- not the kind of Demographic that listens to Howard.
After hearing this, I don't mind that he went to satellite and I can no longer hear his show.
If it was up to Hillary, half the stuff he does on his show would be outlawed because it "objectifies women."

Just another illustration of the fact that you shouldn't hold anyone too high on your imagined pedestal. Especially media types. I've gone from liking Olbermann, Scarborough, and Dobbs to hating them all, the fuckin' bastards.

Haven't listened to Stern in years. If I recall, he was a huge fan of Bill Clinton and probably supports Hillary just for that reason alone. He apparently doesn't truly "get" Ron Paul because Stern should be a huge fan of his. If I recall, Stern supporter Giulianni before he dropped out because of the NY ties.
I expected Stern to be a little less simple-minded about politics. What a fraud :/

Umm... I doubt Howard Stern would vote for anyone who was pro-life... I'm pretty sure Stern doesn't think it should be left up to the states.

Stern doesn't really follow or care about politics.
The 96% were contributions he's made to political candidates.
It's funny that in one moment he says prostitution should be legal (talking about the NY governor), and says things very libertarian minded, but then says he's a hilary guy?
Why because she's a NY senator, and Bill was great because he got the most famous BJ in world history?
I know people who like Bill Clinton that support Hilary only for that reason.
"Hey man, when you get Hillary you are also getting Bill! It's a two and one!! The country was great back then!"
That's the logic I have to deal with. And Howard is just another typical simpleton voter.
Legalize prostitution and then 30 seconds later, I'm a Hillary guy...
