the items sought to have police arrest Bush and Cheney if they ever visit Brattleboro or nearby Marlboro or to extradite them for prosecution elsewhere — if they're not impeached first.

In Brattleboro, the vote was 2,012-1,795. In Marlboro, which held a town meeting on the issue, it was 43-25 with three abstentions.

(then all sorts of excuses why cowardly public officials can't do it etc...)

Possible wake up call to other politicians?

Old news, but yes it is a wake-up call. I really think there is something brewing in the house. It's almost like they are letting Bush dig himself a deep hole. His recent veto of the torture bill, and FISA specification is setting a tone that he will make the law, by legislating through veto's. I recently sent a letter to my Republican representative about Bush's Civil Assistance Plan (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=t&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GWYA_en___US227&q=Civil+Assistance+Plan) that he signed with Canada, allowing Canadian Military to be used against Americans. The Representative stated she was aware of it, there were additional facts needed, before any action can be taken against the President. I think Republican congress are starting to realize this administration is going beyond what was precieved to be incompentance and is verging on criminal and constitutional abuses on the american people under color of authority.
