I am working on placing a large, lighted, double-sided billboard on the future Trans-Texas Corridor, which is the first leg of the proposed NAFTA superhighway for Dr. Paul. About 200,000 Texans per day will see this message. Here are potential elements that we need to incorporate into a simple billboard message:

1) Dr. Paul as the only presidential choice for Texas because of this issue (His stance on anti-SPP, NAFTA etc…)

2) Anti-Trans Texas Corridor

3) Anti-NAFTA Superhighway

I need a preliminary proto-type billboard message to pitch to a statewide coalition on next Thursday, August 23, at 12 PM, less than six days away. I need your help, I am a MBA/Engineer; I am not very artistic. Any help would be greatly appreciative.

Here is the target audience, who are already lockstep Dr. Paul supporters, but just don’t know it yet: Texas United for Reform & Freedom. Some are even trying to get Dr. Paul to speak at September/October fund raiser.

http://www.texasturf.org/

Please watch this 2 minute trailer to catch the flavor of this project, and how powerful this issue is for Texans as well as the whole nation. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4471740633446049405&q=truth+be+tolled&total=76&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1

‘Truth Be Tolled’

Synopsis:

Government has figured out a way to make money on public infrastructure. The plan is to convert existing Texas roadways into toll ways and hand them over to foreign interests without a public vote. Many citizens are crying highway robbery.

Elected officials have passed laws unnoticed simply to pave the way. The political establishment is not listening to the people-- but their voices will be heard.

This feature documentary follows the process as citizens exercise their most important power as members of a democracy: freedom of speech.

From mayors of small cities, political representatives and grass roots organizers to working-class Texans, all unite to state their loud opposition. The strongest voices rise from small rural communities whose farms, homes, schools, businesses and churches face the largest forcible eminent domain acquisition in U.S. history.

The Trans-Texas Corridor, the first leg of the proposed NAFTA superhighway, will not only rip the heart out of Texas-- it will kill a way of life that has been in the Lone Star State forever.

Yeah. Those seem like big thing in Texas.

what part of the corridor?

the culture changes quite a bit from one area to another, so it would help to know where you plan on placing your billboard.

i live in Victoria myself and am not opposed to the expansion, i'm just opposed to 99% of the manner in which they are going about it.

Are you looking for "art"? What are the measurements you need considered..

ie, dpi/lines per inch etc...

Mentioning the fact that he wants to eliminate income tax and the IRS seems to be the thing that really gets people's attention, because everyone wants to save money. Mentioning gun rights might scare some people away. Secure borders seem to be everybody's campaign promise, so he might just come off as another candidate. Mentioning that he's anti-war can't hurt. Just my two cents.

Secure borders is a make or break item with voters.... if you are gonna mention the war, you should also mention the borders.. to me, neither takes precedence over the other..

This is fine..

END The Federal Income Tax
END The UN War in Iraq
SECURE our Borders, and Our Sovereignty.

Restore the Republic & Your Liberties

Or just use whats on the Mosaic Poster.

Say No to War, Amnesty, Taxes, Real ID & Special Interests
Say Yes to Limited Government, Secure Borders, Prosperity & Liberty

This is Texas. If it were me making the billboard, I'd include this quote:

"Texas Congressman Ron Paul's pro-gun credentials are impeccable"
- Gun Owners of America

ie, dpi/lines per inch etc...

Sizes are 14' X 48' (most common and our target), 12' X 24' (30 sheet) & 5' X 11' (8 sheet)

Message has to be brief & eye-catching.

It has to appeal to both Dr. Paul and Anti-Trans Texas Corridor/Anti-NAFTA Superhighway--a very synergistic partnership.

Looking for message/concept prototype now.

I've been working on two ad designs, with two slogans each, for benches. I'm going to pitch it to my meetup group next week. Not sure if it's what you're going for, but it might give you some ideas:

The Constitution is the Solution:

End the "inflation tax" - Give the poor a break:

I used the same photo as the Ames ad, but you gotta admit, that's one of the best mug shots of Dr. Paul!

If you like the layout, let me know and I'll replace the text with whatever you want for the billboard. I'm not very artistic, though, so these are the only two layouts I'm willing to make. (sorry)

As a side note, some folks may want to consider bench advertising. Here in Nashville we can get 1,000,000 impressions (conservative estimate) for less than $3,000. And many of those are repeat impressions, assuming we rent several benches.

Those are great examples—thank you! Since we are targeting a two panel billboard (2-sided), makes sense to have two distinct messages. The concepts are what we are looking for now; the billboard company will actually include in the price, the design of the advertising.

It's looking like maybe Austin: 'Just Come Home' would be appropriate in that market. One year lease with an option to extend two months, keep it all generic to both Republican or Independent.

First of all, thanks for the compliments. Glad you like it! :)

Second, I guess I misunderstood. I thought you were looking for the artwork prototype, but you're just looking for the message. Sorry I help you there, I don't know the market. But good luck, it seems like plenty of folks here have some good suggestions.

I have been calling other Texans for three days now. They support Paul on all the conservative issues, but the only issue people have had a problem with is the war. I would say about 20% are uncomfortable with the war stance. Other than that no problem.

Certainly have stuff about:

Immigration
Trans Texas Corridor
Gun Control
Anti-Tax

Also the big reason that people are against the Trans Texas Corridor is not because of the NAU, but because they are planning to take the property with eminent domain, and Texans are big into property rights. So saying something about property rights is going to be big too.

"The only anti-Iraq war Republican that has a chance against the Democrats in 2008"

You want to scare republicans, make them consider a Hillary Clinton presidency.

Might be a little over the top, but would definitely be effective.:D

One aspect you might want to play up is how Ron Paul is "truly" supporting the troops by taking them out of harm's way. It also might be useful to mention how the troops appear to appreciate Ron Paul's anti-war stance, as indicated by him receiving more donations from military than any other candidate last quarter.

Another good idea, 'Troops support Ron Paul' crosses through both parties.

Keep it short and simple whatever you do. Drive by the location and do a time test of how long the current billboard there is legible and make sure your message can be read in that time.

if it is in Austin, go with the fact that he voted against war in Iraq, voted for Targeting Bin Laden...

and most importantly he voted AGAINST the Patriot Act

If it's in the country somewhere... mention

Ron Paul wants to protect
your property rights
your family
our country
the constitution.

A Vote for Ron Paul is a Vote
for You, for Texas and the Nation.
