I'm new here so forgive me if this has been discussed before.

Those of us that know about SEO need to brainstorm. Let's put our heads together and find those "keywords" that we want to go after.

Once we decide on those keywords, let's either create a site or sites or use some of the existing sites and drive traffic to those sites.

I'm willing to invest some of my time into creating backlinks. If we work together we can achieve some incredible results I think.

What do you all think?

A task force who can link build, build keyword specific pages, and such is always a good thing to do.

Build your team of volunteers and provide marching orders and let them go to work.

Id say get some backlinks on some high PR sites related to whatever your going for.

existing sites with good content is the key. Google hates new sites with no backlinks.

.com and .org are good. the rest i try to stay away from unless you find someone with a .edu haha.

It takes months to get up in rankings though. Unless you get some good backlinks and i mean REALLY good. A link back from the official Ron Paul site wouldn't hurt.

What website are you trying to do SEO on? There are plenty of Ron Paul sites already. Might as well work on doing more efficient SEO on those sites...

Yes, let's do that. What are those sites? Let's focus our efforts on those sites. Also, let's figure out the keywords we can use. Let's have a discussion on what people are searching for politically and let's go after those keywords.

I am willing to work together to achieve some goals, I am pretty convinced we are going to see a huge spike in "ron paul" keywords with nothing to do with him, just because it is such a popular search term.

I am actually in the process of creating a blog with how to make a I Support Ron Paul banner that sits in the top corner of your site. You can view mine at www.smdesignworks.com (http://smdesignworks.com), I will upload all the psds and list the tutorial, I will write instructions on how to install on your blog, or wordpress and add Ron Paul's website link in it. Webmasters and good SEO could do wonders for this guy.

Now is really a good time to get a ton of recognition off the fame Ron Paul is going to be receiving because its only going to get bigger, all the while providing services and helping the campaign. If anyone's interested in working on projects together, just email me at admin@smdesignworks.com

If we're going to do this I'd like to suggest we target keywords that will reach potential supporters and focus on that. As in- we don't want to worry about showing up for any search containing Ron Paul, but rather I'd want to show up for searches for all the other candidates names. If we can do that I'd think this would be very useful.

Imagine searching for Hilary Clinton and result #1 was the Ron Paul official campaign website! haha

We'll start a huge linking campaign like this:

Hillary Clinton (http://www.RonPaul2008.com) can't touch Ron Paul!

:D

Haha yeah but you would need to mention Hillary Clinton instead of Ron Paul on the web pages and titles. Search engines don't really pay attention to keyword Meta tags anymore.

So maybe a Hillary Clinton vs Ron Paul website would work. But Leave the Vs Ron Paul out of the title and name of the site. Like "Why Vote For Hillary Clinton" Then..

When you could vote for Ron Paul. << In javascript or even a swf file. Search Engines cant read those.

Great points! So maybe we could create a website- RonPaulVsThe2ndTier.com and we'll have one page for each candidate. We'll SEO those pages to do well for the other candidates names and then spread the word to put up our block of back link text. Maybe a few hundred / thousand sites could have a section in their navigation with a block of links like this:

Hillary Clinton (RonPaulVsThe2ndTier.com/Hillary) VS. Ron Paul
Fred Thompson (RonPaulVsThe2ndTier.com/FredThompson) VS. Ron Paul
Barack Obama (RonPaulVsThe2ndTier.com/Barack) VS. Ron Paul

etc..

and your idea about this VS. concept is also great because now the links really are about Hillary, etc.

I'd like some folks to help me out re SEO. My site is http://ronpaulcolorado.org

Basically a two-part blog. One with compiled info from around the Net for those interested in RP. Target - mainly those who are in Colorado. My main PR for this is probably gonna try to get it offline - via press releases to the small papers.

Second part - serious action blog stuff - to win the caucus, get delegates, organize precincts/neighborhoods, etc. Obviously totally focused on Colorado though I think some of this might also be useful for some of the meetups/groups elsewhere.

I would really like to optimize it for SE. And some of the various blog sites like Technorati. But I'm at a bit of a loss. My last serious Net experience was in the 90's which is, well, antique now.
