GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul is hinting to supporters that he is ending his long-shot campaign for the presidency.

The Texas Republican congressman addressed supporters in a 7 1/2-minute video on his campaign Web site Thursday night and did not specifically say he was quitting the race.

He said that although victory in the conventional political sense is not available in the presidential race, many victories have been achieved due to the hard work and enthusiasm of his supporters.

He said that he hoped that one day he and his supporters could look back and say his campaign was a significant first step that signaled a change in direction for the country.

Paul said their job now was to plan for the next phase of their effort.

At least they left the article off on a high note

They left out a lot of other statements that he made.. like about picking up delegates and visiting states... he's going to the convention. He's not quitting the race. He'll be there in September.

Yes, but also hints at an unconventional win!

Yes, Yahoo's emphasis on "hinting" is rather clever, eh? I guess they didn't get the rest of the memo...the part about him remaining in the race. ;)

Notice how it's at 1am Eastern time though...it will probably be gone in the morning before anybody wakes up and actually reads it.

RP NEEDS to put up more youtube videos of him speaking to us. This is a perfect opportunity to address these media chicaneries. He needs to stir things up and get some publicity.

RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT 2012!!!!!!!!!!

The economy will be in shambles.....hopefully Iraq will be winding down, and without the shadow of Iraq and the rhetoric of if we don't fight the terrorists there, they will come here.....the country will be ready for someone who really CAN fix the economy.....

This the new "news cycle". Publish the stuff that matters, on general principle, at absurd hours of the night, then talk them up the next day after they have moved off the front page and have had a chance for the biased "writers/bloggers" to manipulate it. Then put it on TV.

I'm suddenly reminded of this comic from when Edwards quit the race:

Everyone already thinks he dropped out.

Where unfair smears didn't work, the blackout did work. The only silver lining is that big media showed themselves and how they operate to many people who hadn't noticed before.

There is one nice thing about the Yahoo piece--anyone who reads more than the headline will get the story. NPR, allegedly but not actually dedicated to the public interest, distilled seven and a half minutes to eight words: victory in the conventional sense is not obtainable. I'm actually surprised they left "in the conventional sense" in there.

Every sheep out there allready did. If antything this was good because they did not say he was dropping out and they let people that thought he did drop out know he's still in it.

Yeah, if you go to all the pages on MSNBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN- it's on their front page.

What a bunch of jerks! In no way, did he even suggest that he was quitting the race. He just said he was moving on to the next phase which means building numbers for the movement.

Propaganda at its best!!!

Everyone already thinks he dropped out.

Wait, so he dropped out of dropping out, and the double negative means he is back in.

Ron Paul (Arnold voice): "Ah'll be baack."
