Cool! Good luck...My advice is to seek out those with experience in this kind of thing and try and get them to mentor you. It's always better if you can learn from people's mistakes and triumphs.

Who are you running against? And what are your chances?

Wesley Smith, 12 year democratic incumbent
Large and well known family
Mason
Has all voter records (Clerk is one of the hardest positions to bust an incumbent on)

My chances... At this moment I would go with 50/50... It can happen, but it will take work to bring this asshole down...

He was quoted with saying "I'm taking my lunch to work with me for now on so I can see that sorry SOB when he files against me."

The big thing going against him is that he his well hated.... Its like im going against Hillary.

OK... here's my advice - You're young, so try to make it come across as "charming" if ya know what I mean. Be extremely respectful. And don't let anyone call you inexperienced, because that's what they'll want to do. So use it to your advantage instead... get people talking about it. "a 19 year old "... get people to like the sound of that

Thats why I like what is on the last of the article... "Winning would make Walsh the youngest Clerk in SC history"

You know what's great is that since you are so young, there will be little he can attack you on without it backfiring in his face! The only thing is youth and inexperience and from what I read, your political experience is adding up quickly.

Way to go and good luck. Be sure to let us know if you need help with anything.

Keep sticking up for the taxpayer and how the government tends to waste money and give the average hard-working citizen the raw end of the deal. You want to change all that by making the government more accountable to the people and by not wasting the taxpayer's money. Maybe you can find a good example of waste in the present County Clerk's office. Or better yet, find a civil servant in the office who will help you get rid of their crummy boss.

Good luck man.

Oh man I would love to see a 19 (or possible 20 by election day) year old get into office. Imagine how much that will inspire your age group (usually the most politically disenfrachised) to get more involved. I'm 29 now, and I wish I was as active at 19 as you are now, but there wasn't any real community or support system for it. The movement wasn't what it is now ten years ago, and I had no awareness of it.

BTW-We have had 18 year olds in our State House of Representatives here in New Hampshire (I think was elected in 2006), but we're unusual in having a truly citizen's legislature. We have 400 reps for only 1.3M people (the largest state legislature), so each congressman represents only about 3k people. I'll end with a shameless plug: http://freestateproject.org/

Dude? They get $100/year. It's a volunteer position. Truly a citizen's legislature. :) All kinds of people in there, including people working part time at starbucks.
