What happens to delegates bound to an individual who concedes his run for Presidency?? Are they bound to vote for the individual whose candidacy the former winner puts his support behind???

I'd want to check with state party's rules, but generally, they're now free to do anything- vote for someone else.

Does anyone know Georgia's laws??? Where can I go to find out?? This will definately decide whether I will drop the cash necessary to go to the national level. My dh and I are already through step one here....:D

The candidate to whom they are "bound" can "release" them. They are then free but are likely to vote for the candidate to whom their guy endorsed.

Varies by state. Some still have to vote for him for a round or two. Some are released immediately their candidates drops.

None are bound to vote for whomever their former candidate endorses.

Soft: Soft count, estimated delegate preferences prior to the convention.
Hard: Hard count, the preference as originally assigned. (Note: unpledged delegates are hard counted as "Uncommitted".)
Pl: Pledged or Bound Delegates.
Unpl: Unpledged or Not Bound Delegates

Interesting...Wonder what the difference would be now that we are down to 2 candidates and those bound might be unbound?? Are Romney's still bound?? If not then depending on Georgia law that looks like 57here alone. I tried the local gop site, but haven't found the answer yet to the original legal obligation regarding a delegate's vote...Ughh!!!

Duhh...should have tried google earlier. Found this:
Any person selected as a delegate or delegate alternate to such national convention shall file a qualification oath with the Secretary of State pledging support at the convention to the candidate of their political party or body for the office of President of the United States for whom they are selected to support. The oath shall state that the delegate or delegate alternate affirms to support such candidate until the candidate is either nominated by such convention or receives less than 35 percent of the votes for nomination by such convention during any balloting, or until the candidate releases the delegates from such pledge. No delegate shall be required to vote for such candidate after two convention nominating ballots have been completed.
So how do we find out if Huckabee released his delegates? Looks like if not then one is free to vote their conscience after two vote calls though. Very interesting......
