That's sickening. There is nothing wrong with homeschooling, and I kind of wish that I had been homeschooled.

The public school in California are very bad. It is amazing kids can learn in them. A friend of mine who is a former teacher, said for the most part that the kids are smarter than the average teacher in public schools.

Once they get control of the entire next generation all hope is lost. Homeschoolers provide a key hope to the future of our country. We have one child who has forced us to send her to public school (long story). She is lacking in social skills and falls for every ignorant statement as she caves to peer pressure. In contrast my other homeschooled children are brighter and more emotionally stable. These types of rulings will have far reaching implications....:(

Homeschoolers are independent thinkers. They homeschool because they have STRONG beliefs- either religious or not- and they aren't going to let a socialist judge tell them they can't. They will win out in the end, it's just a shame that ONE judge can wreak so much havoc on our rights that we have to spend a lot of time getting back.

I've helped lots of new homeschoolers get started and I'm often asked "What if I fail?" My answer to this is HOW do you fail? If you did absolutely NOTHING but surround your kids with books and let them at it your children would still be as educated as the avg ps graduate.

Independent thinking aside if Department of Social Services takes your children for failure to comply with compulsary education laws there isn't a whole lot one can do to further the situation. The level of acceptance of the government policies being good for society and that parents are not capable of teaching their children without it being a detriment to society is very prevalent. These attitudes help the government to push their agenda through the backing of a well intentioned but ignorant public.

I guarantee that you will see a majority of homeschoolers leave the state before they succumb to this. If I were "told" to send my kids to school I'd go underground. CA is just ONE state, taken over by socialists it seems. Quite a few states have NO regulations AT ALL for homeschooling, people just do it. In CA you're dealing with a state that thinks it's ok to regulate the temp of your home. Of course they think kids are their property. ;)

No doubt...And I agree with you. however that send this just indicates the lack of tenacity of our society when it comes to liberty. With 49 left then the socialists just pick them off one by one. Alabama has one of the weirder homeschooling laws that is so worded that the government can sway it their way if they see fit. They are another state homeschoolers live in fear of having their children snatched by social services. In Alabama social services will take your children. They reap huge federal dollars for doing such. It is a very lucrative scam for them....
