OPERATION COME AND TAKE IT: PHASE THREE

A lot of you are asking what comes next, especially those
of you that got yourself elected convention chairs even
while in the minority (you are awesome) and got the packet.

If Something Went Wrong:
================================

Let us know immediately by mailing problems@prudentia.us
and we will get on it. We need to know if for any reason
you weren't allowed to participate in a convention, either
because they said there wasn't one or because they sent you
to the Democrat caucus or whatever. We have to get those
resolved quickly. I have a few reports already and we'll
be looking at them in the next few hours.

The Packet:
================================

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND TIME-SENSITIVE. The paperwork
is where they will try to stop us, by challenging our
delegates so they can't be seated. We will work on that
from our end, but you need to make sure it's correct on
your end.

1) Make sure you have a photocopy of everything you hand
in. Rumors abound about lost paperwork!

2) A lot of the packets were missing the pages they were
supposed to have about the resolution results. It's
possible all of them were missing them. What you need to
do with your resolutions:

- Include both the passed ones and the failed ones (if
possible)

- Mark "PASSED" on each one that passed, and the vote if
you recorded it.

- Mark "FAILED" on each one that failed, and the vote if
you recorded it.

- Make sure you include three copies of each resolution,
marked as above.

4) HAND DELIVER the packet with the above to the county GOP
office. GET A RECEIPT.

You have to have it there within 3 days of yesterday's
convention - the sooner the better. You technically have
the option to mail it but I would highly recommend not
doing that unless you at least send it certified mail.

================================
Upcoming Events:
================================

1) Senatorial District mock conventions are being
scheduled.

Watch meetup calendars closely, contact your meetup group
leader for opportunities in your area. Mostly the
organizers will be directing things at the real convention
but we want you to know what to expect. We'll record it
and make it available for those that can't attend.

2) Temporary Committees.

Each county and/or senate district chairman will be
appointing temporary committees. Under the Texas
Republican Party rules these committee meetings must be
open to any delegate. Important business will be conducted
during these temporary committee meetings. If you are
able, you are encouraged to volunteer to serve on the
committee of your choice and/or attend as an observer.
These committees are not likely to meet until just before
March 29 so we'll have time to provide you with some
training but you must ask for the appointment and meeting
times NOW.

Generally the committee responsibilities are:

[Temporary Credentials Committee] will review minutes of
precinct conventions and credentials of delegates chosen to
insure that the convention was properly held and that the
delegates were duly elected and qualified to serve. We've
had lots of reported problems in this area i.e., folks just
turning in their name to the election judge saying they
wanted to be a delegate. Conventions are formal meetings.
They are to be convened, conduct business and adjourn. No
business is to be conducted after the convention adjourns,
i.e., adding additional delegate names to the roster.

[Temporary Nominations Committee] will present a slate of
nominees to serve as delegates to the state convention. In
large areas, folks wishing to attend state convention
submit letters/resumes requesting placement on the slate.
The nominations committee will review this data and/or comb
list of delegates coming to county/SD convention to
identify those they will recommend attend the state
convention. Service on this committee does not necessarily
mean you yourself want to be a state delegate, it makes you
a part of the process to choose those individuals.

[Temporary Platform/Resolutions committee] will review all
resolutions passed at the various precinct conventions,
consolidate similar language and submit a recommended set
of resolutions for adoption at the county/SD convention.

[Temporary Rules Committee ]will review the rules of the
Texas Republican Party and consider whether additional
rules should be adopted for the county/SD convention.
These frequently address such items as limiting debate
and/or the number of individuals who can speak for or
against an issue.

So let the county/senate district chairman know you'd like
to serve on the committee of your choice (pick one but you
won't be able to serve on more than one unless you are in a
REALLY small county) and/or ask when the committee will
meet so you can attend- DON'T be surprised if appointments
have already been made; DO ask if the chairman will
consider adding another committee member. Whether you are
appointed or not, you can still attend and observe.

You'll want to notify leadership in your area of your
selection to a committee and make sure that they or one of
the area resource folks will be available to you should you
identify concerns during the meeting.

3) Senatorial District Convention: This is in two and a
half weeks, on March 29th.

You should have been told the location at your precinct
convention but if not call your Republican County Chairman
to obtain the name/contact info for your Senate District
Chairman, then contact them for convention time/location.
As we obtain this info, we'll post on the Texas Page at
RonPaul2008.com. It will be VERY important for all
delegates to be present at the convention on March 29.
That is the place our full strength is most important. A
lot of the non-Paul people at your convention last night
will not bother going, especially since Huckabee dropped
out, so we'll have even more votes if all of you come. I
know this may be a hardship for some of you -- please do
the best you can to stay the course. This is especially
important if you were the only person at your convention or
if there were non-Paul supporters made delegates from your
convention.

The most important thing right now is that we see this
through. The media garbage is going to only get worse now
that Huckabee is out and they think McCain has the
delegates he needs. We all know otherwise, but other
states that haven't voted yet may not, and our people there
may be discouraged and may not bother to take control. If
you know states that still need to vote, let them know what
we did here and make sure they repeat it! We cannot back
down until we take St. Paul!

Good job compiling that information!

I'm only 20 and don't have a great resume or any idea of what to put in a letter to go to the state convention... Any ideas? When should the letter be submitted, and who to?

Good post. The packet I received was opened and missing a few things. There was NO information on submitting resolutions included in it.

What was supposed to be in this "packet"? All I walked away with was a green paper to announce my intentions to attend the state convention.

What was supposed to be in this "packet"? All I walked away with was a green paper to announce my intentions to attend the state convention.

The packet was what was submitted by the chair who ran the meeting and should have been made available at the polls to the pct chair or anyone who showed up to run the meeting that night. The forms are pretty simple really - who attended, who was elected to chair the meeting and a simple meeting report, delegates and alternates to county or sd convention, and resolutions passed or failed. If you need a copy for some reason pm me and give me your email and I'll send you one.

More communication I've received from the campaign for delegates and precinct chairmen and precinct secretaries... Some of this is specific to Travis County, where I live, but some is relevant to all delegates.

I think the main thing is if you're a delegate, let the campaign know, so that they can get in touch with you to coordinate county/SD convention attendees.

-----------------------------------------
Good evening Ron Paulians,

I’m emailing you for a very important reason: we need the results of your precinct convention.

On Tuesday night, you hopefully were able to attend your precinct convention with a number of other Ron Paul supporters in order to select as many Ron Paul Delegates as possible. For some, this probably wasn’t extraordinarily difficult. For others, it might have been an uphill battle for each and every delegate position. Whatever the result, we are so glad that you made the effort! This is how liberty will be won!

Two action items which MUST be done AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, and by that I mean yesterday if you have a time machine handy.

1) If you were elected the permanent precinct convention chairman, then you MUST turn in your paperwork to the Travis County Republican Office (7801 N. Lamar, Suite A-139) by tomorrow! I cannot stress enough how important this is. (This info is county-specific. If you live in a different county, you'll need to turn in your packet at your county's GOP office)

2) No matter who you are (but especially if you are a precinct leader), email the results of your precinct to Nancy Robbins me at ncr1974{aat}gmail{dott}com. She wants the following information unless you've already spoken to her and handed me your sheets at the North office:

for RON PAUL delegates/alternates ONLY:
Name, address, email, phone number
Whether they are a delegate or alternate
and who was the Permanent Precinct Chair and Secretary

We want to compile this information as quickly as possible so we can get you the information you need for the SD-14 convention on March 29th (mark your calendar!). (This info is SD-14-specific.)

Again, thank you!!! Austin is the central hub of the rEVOLution, we cannot let the people down! Liberty is just too important to leave anything to chance!

-----------------------------------------

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for the huge response today! We will be getting in contact with all of our Ron Paul delegates very soon about the next steps in the process. We are going to have some fun!!!

I've gotten several questions about where and when to turn in the packets today, so please read on!!

If you have not already turned in your packet to the Travis County Republican Office, that must be done no later than 5pm TODAY.

These are the steps you need to take:

1. make 3 copies of your packet

2. you need to go TODAY to hand deliver your packet and get a receipt at 7801 N. Lamar Blvd, Ste A-139, Austin TX 78752. This is the Travis County Republican Party.(This info is county-specific. If you live in a different county, you'll need to turn in your packet at your county's GOP office)

3. in your packet should be the originals signed by both the chair and secretary and one copy of all documents. Make sure you get a receipt!!!

4. one copy of the packet is for you to keep for your records

5. one copy comes to the grassroots, AND email me the following information:
Precinct #, Senate District #, Congressional District # and County
Names of both permanent Chair and Secretary
list of Ron Paul delegates -people you KNOW are Ron Paul supporters. This information should include: Name, Address, Phone Number, Email address, and whether they are a delegate or an alternate. **This is very important for the next step in the process.
Again, this must be done no later than 5pm Thursday March 6th!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Nancy

Does anyone know where to find information about contacting our district/county chairman about the committee process, or know where to find out more about it?

we are hoping to provide that to all when available statewide. in the meantime you might check to see if your county gop has a website and check there. if they put out a newsletter ask for it and keep checking. some links you may find useful below:

It sounds like you were selected as a delegate, so you wouldn't have a packet.

The person you elected chairman (or possibly the secretary) at your precinct convention has your precinct's packet. Delegates were given the flyer with information on their county/senatorial district convention.

The chairman or secretary is responsible for delivering the packet to your county's GOP headquarters, so that the information on delegates is available to the Republican Party at the county/senatorial district convention.

Good job compiling that information!

I'm only 20 and don't have a great resume or any idea of what to put in a letter to go to the state convention... Any ideas? When should the letter be submitted, and who to?

You don't need a great resume to sort through all the precinct convention paperwork, or do some of the other jobs committee members are needed for. I'm sure they're primarily looking for enthusiastic, conscientious, hard workers to volunteer to help out with all the tasks that must be done for the convention to be able to take place.

Contact your county GOP office and let them know that you would like to participate on a committee in your county's (or senatorial district's) convention. If they're not looking for committee members, offer to volunteer at the convention. If you show that you're just genuinely interested in helping out, first of all, it demonstrates that you aren't in it for personal reasons -- you care about the party and that things go well. Second, it shows initiative. Third, it gets your foot in the door. If a committee member has to drop out, they might look to you to take their place.

When I have contacted the Ron Paul Campaign office, they do advise to keep a low profile. It's not a great idea to make it known which candidate you support, because then the administrators will do everything to keep you from participating. So maybe no Ron Paul shirts or buttons when interacting with the Republican county office. ;) My husband and I have taken this to the extreme... we've both been wearing our most conservative, preppy, bland clothes when going to the GOP offices or events. :P

Similarly, when working with other, traditional members of the party, if conversing while working and the conversation turns to politics, only bring up topics you know you're likely to have common ground on, how awful the tax system is, or how much liberals want to spend. Keep it light and general, and stay away from any contentious issues. Change the subject by asking about the person's work or family. ;)

This has been the strategy my husband and I have employed, and it seems to be working ok for us. :)

I am totally lost with your post!

I am a delegate, I will be going to the Senatorial Convention In Harris County.
I didn't have any resolutions to introduce at the Precint caucus on March 4th, but my precinct Chairman told me that I could introduce Resolutions at the senatorial convention on the 29th.

Is that true?

Do I need to contact the Harris County GOP Chairman for anything before the convention?

if you want to introduce resolutions or discuss the resolutions at the SD convention in your area, then you need to contact your convention's temporary chair and find out when the platform committee is meeting. better yet get on the committee and work from within the committee at the SD and also at state. people are appointed to these committees by the temporary chairs of the committees. so ask to be appointed! if you don't get appointed, attend and observe and speak to the committee about the resolution(s) that are important to you.

You can have more impact that way than you can have on the day of the convention from the floor.

ps the Harris County GOP Chair should be able to tell you who the SD temporary chairs are and how to get in touch with them
