wow...
Did mtv sponser this?
I thought the mtv "debate/discussion" was pretty good also for RP.

Are we in some sort of bizarro world where MTV is our best media friend?

I think we can say that MTV is an ally. The audience is young, exactly where Paul is having the most success.

MTV's audience is the most socialist disgusting group of people ever. however, an ad like this may do wonders, like poisoning the queen ant whose colony relentlessly infests your house.

It does not look like they broadcast them, but maybe...

If you look at their issues, they are generally not ours, but there is overlap - and if we can slip into that overlap....

Seem to be RP supporters posting comments there too!

Somehow I doubt they would be doing the same if a democrat was in office. It won't be long before we start seeing ads from them about how Obama is going to save us all.

I also doubt they are going to be taking the position of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership any time soon. Now that is a group that has the right idea on how to prevent genocide.

MTV is NOT an ally.

They merely created this for the Holocaust Remembrance Week.

At first, I posted it as a MySpace bulletin and thought SOMEone at MTV finally
understood that we live under a tyrannical Govt.

But then I realized...no. It's just a commercial to remind people
that Hitler burned Jews. Nothing more, nothing less.

^ I don't think it's that simple. They're probably trying to relate the Holocaust to modern affairs so I don't know.

if that's all it was, there would have been no need for the comparison. plain and simple.

Really? Do tell exactly how it is "spot on". Give a few examples, perhaps? Comparing it to the holocaust is a diss to holocaust victims and is really out of proportion to the current situation - the VAST majority of Americans are really not in danger of being "detained". It does not justify the actions of the government by any means, and even one injustice is one too many, but this comparison is wanting nonetheless. Guantanamo is bad, but it is hardly an Auschwitz, and probably not as bad as the japanese internment camps that the great American Hero and God-President FDR set up during WWII.

I view the video as an example of what could happen (and has happened) with centralization of big government.

They are not on RP's side. During the forum MTV gave all the candidates recently, RP got the toughest question (still nailed it) and the host was unfair to him. There were obvious Hillary and Obama plants in the audience too. Obvious like they were forgetting the words to their memorized questions.

No, i do not trust MTV.

I'd like it if everyone were skeptical of ALL journalism. Didn't anyone else in the world grow up with the adage: "don't believe everything you read?"

Pop-journalism has it's place as Rolling Stone, Playboy, Village Voice, and a few others have proven to be much more relevant and hard-hitting political forces than traditional magazines and newspapers.

Just like a few good blogs have better journalism than most newspapers.

the video didn't compare nowadays situation with the holocaust, it just warned that it can happen pretty much everywhere.
seeing that bush (or whoever follows him) already has the power to imprison you for nothing ...

sure the situation is different from then, i don't think anyone will try to "gas all muslims" but what about anti globalists, constitutionalists, truthers, anti war people. these are all groups that could have a rough time in the future, no i don't think those people will be gased/executed either. it's just a warning and i don't think its out of place.

The personal memoirs of Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, and Charles DeGaulle comprise 10 volumes (over one million words)--they were written between 1948 and 1959. Not a word is mentioned in ANY of the 10 volumes about any gassing of Jews or 6 million dead. You'd think if a third of the Jewish race had been exterminated one of them would've mentioned it, particularly Churchill who was very pro-Zionist.

Jews were interned in German-occupied Europe during the war just as Japanese were interned in the USA (as you mentioned) and Germans in Canada. The Soviet Union in 1941 was overwhelmingly Jewish and had laws set up to combat anti-Semitism. So it was no surprise that a vast number of Jews in Europe were Communist partisans, many of whom intent on sabotaging the Nazi war effort, and had to be interned in camps for security reasons. The Germans had hundreds of cyanide gas chambers that were used to KEEP THE INMATES ALIVE by fumigating clothing to kill lice which carried fatal diseases such as typhus--one the foremost killers of Jews in the camps along with starvation and sickness.

The reason so many died in the camps wasn't because the Nazis were murdering them but because the railways carrying medicine and food into the camps were destroyed by Allied terror bombing and strafing, or were dynamited by Communist partisans; many of these partisans thought they were "saving lives" by sabotaging the Nazi war effort when in fact they were killing (indirectly) the people in the camps. Only about a million Jews died during the war. The "confessions" from the SS men were coerced through torture and this is admitted.

That's a better observation than what I conveyed. I've stopped getting my news from MSM. Blogs and forums are the absolute revolution. That's why we need to always make sure that the internet stays unregulated.

I find that after you sort through the crap on blogs and forums, you get a better picture of what the world is really like.

Well I doubt they are going to air any of those videos on TV. I'm actually pretty shocked that they produce something like this out of the blue. Even for someone who is somewhat informed like myself, I think the videos are quite a stretch and conceptually uncreative. The ol' holocaust / nazi comparison really has no meaning to a generation that didn't even live through any of the World Wars.
