I want a formula!

20 points for a first place finish. subtract 2 points for each place after that....
Take the total points for each candidate in each race ran... and rank according to point totals.

This is a slick way to track this. I would love someone to set up a page that had a nice graphic of this for each straw poll.

Promoting Ron Paul by using a NASCAR-style ranking of the Presidential candidates may bring a whole new demographic into the Ron Paul fold.

;)

I find it easy to understand.... and maybe someone who is savvy with photo shop could have a stock car with ron paul's face on it with liberty tires.

if you're just adding polls and don't put any weight on the actual vote count, you should add this poll too:

and maybe that new hampshire taxpayers one, and the one from georgia?

This is a really neat way to look at things. I bet someone's blog could take it and make a good post. And I know about the gastonia poll, but with less than 200 votes i didn't put it in.

This is an interesting take on the straw polls. I would love to see this blown up on a poster.

I'm working on a blog post of this now with links to the individual results and an explanation of the scoring system. I want to acknowledge the folks who devised this so if anyone deserves mention let me know.

It should be ready later this evening. I'll put it up in an out of the way spot so I can get a few eyes checking me for errors. I love the smell of victory in the morning; it smells like victory!

If ron paul has 18 and fred thompson has 20 for SC then that is the right poll.

Also- a general rule i used when doing the points... if a candidate received no votes, no write-in votes, or wasn't listed, the candidate recieved 0 points regardless of their place in order. my reason. 0 is like not finishing the race... the driver didn't complete the race or didn't enter the race so got scored 0.
