Need help!

I have court coming up and I was supposed to do community service, and I've only completed half of it, and I don't have enough time to complete it as my court date is set very soon.

What are legitimate excuses for calling in and telling them you cannot make it to court?

Kids? My parents always use the excuse (for jury duty, mind you) that they have to stay home with my sister because she's homeschooled.

Would they up your community service if you hadn't completed it all?
