Mark my words, this machine isn't for use in Iraq. It is coming to a street corner near you. Be afraid......................

Could you please tell in short, what was all about? We haven`t CBS here in Denmark.

The short version:

US military has developed an electronic pulse weapon to use on crowds/insurgents/people they don't like that can be used from a long distance (1/4 to 1/2 mile away). It burns people "non-leathally" to make them disperse. 60 minutes talked it up pretty good and gave small mention to possible misuse.

Scary

Ironically, it looks like it probably doesn't penetrate TINFOIL.

:D

Isn't that the kicker.

I've known about this ray gun for a long while now. This is why I have been mentioning lining the backs of your Ron Paul signs with foil and using them as shields. :o

In that case, I'm selling tin-foil suits if anyone's interested.

Wonder how hard it is to make a "ray gun"?

Would be funny if the protesters had one and used it on the other ray gun operators. :D

If you've ever seen an arrest being made in a black neighborhood, you'll know why every police cruiser will eventually be fitted with one of these.

i see they've been tinkering with it a bit. Now it can work up to half a mile away? This was featured last year in some weapon's show i saw on either Discovery or TLC channel. Insane stuff.

They've also been working on a 'crowd control' weapon that uses very low frequency "brown noise" to inflict bad gastro intestinal disturbances in people. I don't know if it's been fully developed yet but from how i heard it explained, it's really 'crappy'. ;)

You are probably right, I would imagine you will see this at any large scale protests in the future.

Won't be long before Heimland Security gives every decent size city police force one of those.

How's it feel - sinking into slavery?

This is starting to sound like some sort of futuristic ray gun war.

I wonder, what kind of damage constant exposure to the "Ray" would have on your body?

Maybe there's a missle that homes in on their frequency. Flight of the Intruder.

Here is a nice thought.

Fellow citizens

The secretary of the US Air Force, Michael Wynne, said recently that new non-lethal weapons like the microwave ADS should be used on Americans before being deployed to places like Iraq.

"If we're not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation," he told CNN.

I think Counter Measures are in order. Aside from personal protection, it would be nice to have the means to "return to sender".
I am thinking a Reflective Parabolic Mirror, but am looking for more info on the weapon itself.

I would think a fire suit (those shinny aluminized suits) would reflect back most of the electromagnetic energy. Basically I don't think this works though metal.

Full metal jacket from now on!

Easy solution. Storm trooper costumes lined on the inside with foil.

And this stuff for crowd protection.
