Amit Singh, 32, of Arlington, is also seeking the Republican nomination. His platform is “libertarian leaning” and advocates reducing the size and scope of the federal government.

Singh, born and raised near Richmond, graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in electrical engineering. He now owns his own engineering firm that primarily serves federal agencies. This is his first foray into politics.

“A lot of this is a new experience to me, but I'm learning quickly,” he said.

His biggest issues are the federal deficit, preserving personal liberties and foreign policies, which he said are costing the United States financially. Singh said he has not yet begun the fund-raising portion of his campaign.

The article also mentions Dianne Kelly, who I've never seen at any Republican meeting or even heard she exists. I don't think she's running anymore. It's Amit v. Ellmore, good v. bad.

Ellmore was beaten 70%-30% last Republican primary, and Amit was endorsed by the last Republican nominee's campaign manager (the candidate himself is a federal employee subject to the Hatch Act and cannot endorse). Basically it means Amit will take that previous 70% block of voters and secure the nomination.

But he does need your help, in terms of obtaining a Ron Paul/Rand Paul endorsement and raising money. Amit participated in Live Free or Die in N.H. and maxed out to RP in October. We need to get this guy a few bucks, anything helps, his goal is a minimal $15,000 by March 25, because he's putting 10k of his own money into his campaign.

An awesome new site design is coming soon, but for now please donate what you can at his current site:

Bump...sounds like this guy has a very good chance, at the very least, to win the Republican nomination. From the looks of that article, he might be in an uphill battle in the general election given that the incumbent is a 9-term Congressman and Fairfax is a very left-leaning area....but every candidate that wins the nomination, at the very least, can spread our ideas from now until November.

In other words, this is a worthwhile cause if you're looking for another good RP candidate to donate to.

Also if any of you live in VA's 8th district - it looks like he still needs signatures to get on the ballot, so try contacting him to help him out in that regard.

He definitely has a good chance, Moran is hated around here, but the Republicans traditionally run these far-right pro-war neocons who no one will vote for. Last time Moran was challenged in the Democratic primary, his opponent won 42% of the vote, showing he is vulnerable even within the Democratic party.

Even if you can't afford much, a few bucks will help. If you can't afford a few bucks, we need a graphic designer's help. We need a better site banner, even if it's only temporary. The current picture of him is horrible. Maybe use this one instead?

Oh yea here's Amit with Jim Gilmore, who was a short-lived Presidential candidate, Attorney General and Governor of Virginia, and now he's running for Senate:

We asked Gilmore tough questions about Iraq and the federal budget and no direct answers.

For sure... we're fundraising locally as well, but we also need online fundraising help. Right now Ellmore has a big fundraising advantage on us and it's not good.

PLEASE donate!!! $5, $3, $10, whatever.
