Here are the two ads that were run in the Ames/boone/story today papers in Iowa.
(these orignals are NOT to be used to make any profit other than to reproduce and for Ron Pauls campaign.)

You will Need Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (CS2) to use these originals.

The first is the 1/2 page ad. Edit as you see fit. Its generic now and NOT ames specific. Second is the popular mosaic ad, generic now and NOT ames specific.

1/2 page ad:
** 1/2 page ad link here: original: editable (http://ronpaulmosaic.com/download.htm) **
size: 21.5megs
file type: ai (adobe illustrator)
This is an example of the ames ad (http://x38.xanga.com/01dd7a0a32331139801262/m102950016.jpg)

Full page mosaic ad:
** full page mosaic page ad link here: original: editable (http://ronpaulmosaic.com/download.htm) **
size: 270megs (yes, that huge) - includes fonts.
file type: psd (adobe photoshop)
- keep in mind this is the original & is meant for VERY high quality usage.
This is an example of the ames ad. (http://www.ronpaulmosaic.com/ad/amesad_final.jpg)

can a mod sticky this. This is important as there are about 10 threads about this currently.

ALSO, IF you get the files on other servers... add them on THIS thread, and I will update the original post for mirror sites.

Please consider helping RAZMEAR out and mirror these files as the bandwidth is gonna be crunched.

I will try to mirror it until my boss complains about the bandwidth use. Once I have them up I'll post a the URL.

no, they are generic. Just have someone from your meetup -- someone must have graphic skills -- modify it.

Just use the "example link" as a base.. instead of Ames Straw Poll, use the texas info..

Razmear, just curious.. why would you need a download page when it shows how to do it in the first post?

Xar, the mirror links are all messed up. Unfortunately, you can't just copy and paste the links directly out of the other guys' posts, because the software truncates the link. I think you'll either need to quote their posts and copy the full links out or you can probably right click the link and choose "copy link location" (or whatever the equivalent is on your browser).

Here is the download page:
http://ronpaulmosaic.com/download.htm

Sorry for the delay, got a phone call from Boston from my old roommate that I havent talked to in years, good news is he's now a Ron Paul supporter :D

The reason for having a download page is to point folks to the file without having to bring them to the forums.

The download page will get prettier shortly, this was a quick and dirty post.

okay.. but there is an issue because the half-page representation isn't there and it isn't obvious the difference between the two.....

Can you split the page into two columns.. so people can see side by side what each is and have downloads for both.

Is running a newspaper ad a cost-effective idea for the TX Straw Poll? It doesn't sound like it. Since only select-people can vote in the poll. Direct marketing seems like it would be much more effective.

My recommendation for the Texas Straw poll is to get full page copies and paste them around the straw poll and hand them out to those entering. Much more cost effective and could probably be coordinated with the local meetup.

My two cents worth...

Better be careful with those two cents. You might get a bunch of exclamation points, question marks and FUCKs thrown at you.

I got my TX straw poll call list access. That's where my two cents will be spent.

Again, in my opinion, this needs to be directly targeted to those attending the straw poll. Running those ads in the various mediums wont have as much effect if Ron Paul doesnt do very well in the straw poll. In fact, me grey matter tells me it could be counter productive to spend the money if Ron Paul doesn't do very well in the poll. The money is spent, and if people say well, Ron Paul only got "x%", the ads wont serve their purpose as well as say helping to fund mailouts utililizing the ad targeted to voter lists in the upcoming primary states.

I guess I have 96 cents left on this dollar...

It's not that simple, and it's kind of time-consuming to download the files, rework the ad, and then upload it somewhere for you.

If you can tell me what sizes and formats the newspapers say they actually want, I'll do it for you.

V4Vendetta
08-15-2007, 10:14 PM
allright i guess just give it to me in adobe and bmp format for now

just a half - and full page add

as far as size goes..... i'd say somthing reasonable for file download, not 270 megs, thats for sure.

Well if he can do what he says it would definitely bring Ron's face to the general population at the time of straw poll media hype in Texas. And those delegates all have family and friends that could help change the delegates mind. I think people will realize how controlled the poll is. I waiting to see those ads myself. Good luck V4

just a half - and full page add

Look, that's different for every newspaper or magazine.

Here's an example of a paper we are planning on running an ad in here. These are their ad specifications, also known as our choices:

http://anonym.to/?http://www.statejournal.com/sjuploads/sizesspecs2007.pdf

You'll note that they spell out quite clearly the formats, dimensions, color settings, preflighting specs, etc.

If you are serious about running ads, contact some papers, get the specs, and let me know what you need.

vendetta.. I think you need to find the following info first.

1. What dpi do they need the ad
2. is PSD format okay. Usually they just require camera ready art, and PSD seems to be the standard. - OF COURSE, 76' should give you a flattened version so the file size is significantly reduced....
3. How many lines per inch
4. what is the AD dimensions

You want this very very fast, yet it seems you are not sure what exactly you need.

I downloaded the 140 dpi version of the Ron Paul "We the People" Mosaic and used it to make this YouTube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4Cv05CcGps

Let me know what you think! By the way, when I tried to extract the font files from the 270 mb version, many of them were 0 bytes in size and did not appear to have extensions. I've tried both the OS X zip extractor and the "unzip" command-line program. Am I missing something?

You will Need Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (CS2) to use these originals.

I have been bugging my boss to get me Photoshop & Flash. I don't have the slightest idea how to use them but I'm a great study. (Currently teaching myself VBA & database programming). I'd downloaded the trial versions of both Photoshop & Illustrator but it has since run out. I'll have to demonstrate how much more I could do with the advertising information they want me to create (as well as website functions) if only... IF ONLY I had Photoshop, Illustrator & Flash. ;)

Certainly the case for Liberty is as good as any excuse in my book. :D
