I don't know how effective they are, but I have found myself throwing energy towards the efforts of Downsize DC (http://downsizedc.org). This latest email campaign was of particular interest:

I am not afraid... (http://action.downsizedc.org/wyc.php?cid=77)

I like the message it sends. My personal comment on the matter was as follows:

I firmly believe that the attack of 9/11 was NOT an attack on the American People, but rather an attack on an establishment that currently has America and the rest of the world by a dangerous and costly grip. I am confident that the only entities that will suffer these attacks in the future will be those that support the devilish and dangerous agendas perpetrated by the global elite. I think you will find more than one citizen in this great nation who shares my sentiment and finds that the fault lies not in ourselves and in our way of life, but in the constant social brutality of those "calling the shots". More and more Americans are waking up to who the real terrorists are, a sign that is evident in our recent elections. Should you not want to find yourself fighting to save your seat at the next election I encourage you to wake up, as those you are representing are waking from the fog espoused by the lies and fear mongering of our media and leaders.

Now, I know I border on the lunatic fringe, but I thought it was important to state why I wasn't afraid, why I was confident that my country dwellin, simple livin ass had nothing to fear from "terror" abroad.

Again, can't assure their effectiveness, but I applaud the outlet they give.:D

I love Downsize DC. I'm trying to turn friends and family on to their system.

The more we support them, the more effective they'll become. With diligence, one day we'll be a powerful voting bloc that the Politicians will start pandering to. :P

I wanted to say "media whores and their leaders", but I thought that might but too akin to a lemming.

I recently started using Downsize and I dig it. Contacting my representatives is becoming a regular thing for me. I also use JBS.

Downsize DC? Sure seems like an excellent idea to me, and long overdue. Hey if it's a good enough policy for the US economy, why not for the US government also? Maybe large segments could be outsourced to India and China.

Better service, higher quality, lower costs. :D

Just listened to an old Harry Browne radio show where he interviews the President of Downsize DC. Its a great organization that we should all support.

I'm a bit perplexed why DownsizeDC doesn't have a campaign against the FISA bill?

UPDATE - Ok, here it is http://www.downsizedc.org/blog/2008/jun/19/emergency_action_needed

I'm pretty sure that Harry Browne was one of the founders of Downsize DC. He most certainly was affiliated with it before his death.

Edit:

Yup. I just looked on their website.....

The organization is 23,507 strong. Imagine how much more influence we would have if tens of thousands more RP supporters signed up and took the 30 seconds to email their represenatives about issues as they arose.

43,442 messages have been sent asking represenatitves to deny Bush the authority to attack Iran. Send yours now - https://secure.downsizedc.org/etp/campaigns/54 Once you are signed up each message takes less than 30 seconds to send out.

Antifederalism is the basis of my political activism. It is a movement with people from across the spectrum of life.
