So lawyers have a better handle on the constitution?

That is pure idiocy.

We are talking about indoctrination here. you go to law school and study all the "great legal minds of the past". you don't get out of law school by criticizing these crooks in robes.

Judicial Apoligists one and all.

for the most part seemed like a very civil and intelligent conversation

What's the point?

Anybody out of law school will flat out admit that the power of judicial review came from judicial review.

It's like asking "what came first, the chicken, or the chicken".

You know, the Constitution is not written in Chinese or even in abstract legal jargon. It's plain English.

If it's not authorized in the Constitution, it's up to the states or to the people (private industry).

If something comes along that needs to be federally regulated pass an Amendment.

Duh...

What is the difference between "morphing" and "developing," exactly?

It's funny how many stalinists like to call themselves "progressive".

How dare you. These legal scholars knew that we would invent all kinds of things that man couldn't even dream of. So the necessary and proper clause was designed to be be so open-ended that it even managed to render the 10th amendment obsolete. That is how brilliant those men were.

And don't you dare say that the 14th amendment was about granting rights to the freed slaves. We fought a war so corporations could be awarded individual rights and so that anybody giving birth in our country can create a new citizen.

Don't you ever question the great legal minds of the past.

General Welfare was meant to be an inalianable right!</sarcasm>

General Welfare simply ment that anything the federal government does should be for the benefit of all not just a specific group.
The General Welfare clause, if followed correctly, would prevent the bail-out of individuals companies like the airlines... because that would be benefits for a specific group.

Morphing is changing the structure of something that already exists, developing is creating something new that didnt exist before.

The constitution was written for the simple man to understand without interpertation from a lawyer. What part of that don't some on that board understand or some of the people of this country understand? What it says it what it means..Period......

Morphing implies you are become something you are not, developing means honest change and progress.

He's a corrupt, dishonest, shitweasel whose policies would be utterly disastrous for the people of the United States and the world, and I'm glad he has no chance of winning the Republican primary.

Number one, compared to whom?
Number two, examples of corruption.
Number three, my head just exploded.

Coming from a likely hippie socialist, I don't take that too seriously. Somehow people think if they mix the anti war message with socialism, it makes it all right.

End the War! Universal Health Care! Micheal Moore for President!

When will they see that the warfare and welfare state are both destructive to our freedom in different but profound ways?
