View Full Version : Are you running?

Are you running for a political position in the coming years?? If not, why not?

It is your duty to your country, to either run for a position or find people in your area to run in your stead. After looking at PaulCongress.com, we have a lot of people who have won the primary, and this is in a presidential election year!! In 2 more years, the ball's in our court.

If you're not running for Senate, the least you can do is run as a Representative. If you're not running for that, the least you can do is run for State Senate. If you're not running for that, the least you can do is run for State House! And if you won't do a position under that, then you need to get others to do so and FUND THEM!

What about me, will I run? You bet. I'm 17 now and moving to Texas in a couple years, but I will still be helping out my local Libertarians until I can run myself.

Everyone should consider this, it's important.

I'm 18 so running isn't in my near future. I may run in the next 10-20 years when I've learned a lot more and have more experience under my belt. For now I help out whomever I can.

I'd run if there was an empty seat though. Hehe. :p

The filing deadline for Georgia hasn't finished yet and I was thinking about running for state senate in my district against a democrat with no opposition.

The filing though seems like too much of a hassle, I wouldn't be able to raise any money and it's a well-populated strongly-democratic district. So I've kind of just ruled it out.

I'd like to but I'm not one to stay in one place for more than a few years so it makes it hard to peel off that "outsider" mentality.

Unless you count Republican Party Precinct Chairman, which is technically an elected position, but is normally appointed because it's rarely contested, I have no plans for public office. I would certainly consider a run for State House, but in Texas it only pays $7200/year, so you either have to be independently wealthy or work for someone who would rather have the influence than have you their in person. I will work to get liberty-minded individuals elected at every turn.

What about the Other?

One or the Other, you've got to chose ;)

I'll get involved in my local Republican Party (since Ron Paul is staying with them) but I won't be running for any public office.

I'm not really electable what with my lack of religious beliefs and my not ever having been much of a popular person.

I have this uncomfortable habit of speaking my mind and not caring about the consenquences :)

Lol, William.

I am when I get to NH. :) I will do whatever I need to do there. I'd like to be a state delegate if there isn't one already where I move. Otherwise, I'll find out what is needed and go for it!

I'm 19 and yes. I have and still am running. I'm going for more than just county chair, im going for district and beyond. I can then run for state rep in 2 years and Congressman in 6.

I'm agnostic in the bible belt.... so thats not an excuse.

lol i guess you have a lot to learn. :P

i'm running for Congress this year. It's not about me. I have things in my past like everyone. I wont let the Man stop me. I've made mistakes but I'll be a damned good Congressman so people will have to chose:

me or someone who pretends to be perfect in their past.

If you are going to run for office then be prepared. Know the local issues, know everything there is to know about your opponent, know the tactics that they will probably use, know the names you will be called, and build your base now, so when you do run, you are not scrambling to find supporters. If you plan to run in the future, start running NOW.

I'm running in 2010, and I'd qualify for the ballot with two weeks to spare (I'd turn 18 May 22nd, and the filing deadline is in early January).

Depends on what you are running for. Congress is only 21, Senate is 25, President is 35. other positions various age limits

I'd love to but I'm not allowed to. Because I'm a Federal Employee (Letter Carrier - USPS), the Hatch Act prohibits me from running for a government position. Well, I could quit my job and run but it's hard to support a family (wife and 3 children) without any income.
