Three things:

1) Ron Paul said he will keep going as long he has the support and money is rolling in.

2) Ron Paul wants you to be a delegate in your conventions. By sending in everyone we can to National Convention, Paul will have won without nomination.

3) It is not about a man, but about a message.

It is vitally important to remind yourself that POTUS, Legislators and judges are ultimately public servants, and they should be bound to us, the people. People has been conditioned to look at POTUS as the singular nation leader not realizing that POTUS has so little power given by Constitution compared to a state governor. It would be more proper to think of POTUS as an administrator rather than a leader, actually.

And Paul is pretty much a proper guy for this: he not only knows his stuff, but also calls a spade a spade, and we should be cheering every time he does that. Even if that wasn't what we wanted to hear.

The objective should be this:

Send in 1191 National Delegates who are supporters of Ron Paul. Even if they're bound to another candidates.

In order to do that, we need learn the rules and play the games in our states' parties convention and secure a majority showing. Even if your state's primary/caucus is past, they may not have selected a slate yet.

Paul can win without nomination. Paul can win only if you win.

There are several threads out there discussing delegates strategies, a sticky on GOP Rules by states, a inspring thread by DeepThroat, and more.

Or Peter Cetera?

You cannot tie the nominee to the platform, you just can't. Otherwise, Bush wouldn't be half bad if he'd have followed the 2000 platform.

Under the present party rules, no. The idea was that if we had enough delegates, we could put in enough people in Rules committee to revise the rules so nominee will have to be bound.

IOW, reform the party by storming the convention.

Another example: Passing a resolution asking the nominee to voluntarily bind himself to the platform. If nominee refuses, looks like an idiot. (Of course, it's up to us to make sure that platform are reasonable and appealing to everyone for this to work)

How do you propose to enforce that?

The idea would be that if nominee broke from the platform and couldn't justify it before the convention prior to the election year convention (if there's one, or something similar), then nominee loses the support of party and is ineligible to run on their ballot for re-election.

Maybe there's a better idea, but that's what I have in mind right now. The people need to learn that it's the people who are in power, not POTUS. By making nominee/POTUS accountable to a convention of delegates, we have some measure of accountability.
