Then I ran across this website (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_configuration_example09186a00807f3301.sht ml) that you can configure your phone to auto-answer, and engage the speaker phone, when a certain prefix is added when dialing your number. I don't know if this is covered by legislation, but what if these people are listening to your conversations over your speaker phone in your own house. I'll be damned if that is what is happening, but with the recent request for immunity of telecom companies I wonder what the real purpose is.

This is for people that have a Cisco business phone on their desk. It can be configured to auto answer if you want. Imagine your secretary rings you and you want it to go right to speaker to you can communicate without picking up the handset.

I also worry about wiretaps, but this is different.

Yes different I know. But the ability that is there, makes me a bit more nervous. With telecom companies getting immunity, FISA, Homegrown Terrorist act all coming to play...makes me wonder is all. Something to note and be aware of.

Well, with the ability for them to take people away without any kind of legal representation, it may be people have already been eaves dropped on and taken away and nobody will ever hear about it because the person who was taken away was unable to say a word about it.

I guess you will know if they come around and take you away. Nobody else will know though.

Suddenly I don't feel so stupid starting this thread.
