The LaPorte County Court House has not allowed some people to file a CAN 37 stating that one must have voted Republican in the last primary election.
That is not true. If you have no voting history, if you have never voted in a primary election you still have the right to file a CAN 37. And we need you to go do it ASAP!

Michael Strauss will be going to the court house bright and early to clear this up.

IF YOU WERE NOT ALLOWED TO FILE PLEASE GO BACK AND FILE YOUR CAN 37 BEFORE NOON TODAY. Make sure they notarize it and ask for a copy when your done.

IF YOU ARE REFUSED, ask them to please tell you the rule or law that gives him/or her the right to challenge your candidacy and refuse to allow you to file?

Please call if you have any questions.

The court house staff were actually very nice to me and said they didn't have the say in whether the CAN37 would be accepted or not. I was asked to speak with "Coral Lawn" the republican chair and she was not only cordial but sounded excited to have so much interest. She did say there has been a "flurry" of activity the past week or so, with a number of people filing recently.

In short, I don't believe the court house employees can determine who is "in good standing with the Republican party" I was only admonished to make sure to vote "republican" in the coming primary. I wouldn't dream of doing otherwise!
