Yes, take melatonin. Easily found in drug stores like Walgreen's, or any health food store.

There are 2 websites I get alot of info from. One i highly recommend is newstarget.com by mike adams (the health ranger).

Another you might want to check out is herbalhealer.com

there are water filtration systems that get rid of the fluoride in your water. you might want to check into that so you don't have to keep taking things to counteract the effects.

I just bought a Berkey water filter, it removes flouride. For the first time, I feel like I can drink water without drinking from a toxic waste dump. . .

Just exactly what is wrong with fluoride?

There was lot of noise in my town about fluoridating the water supply but I never got a clear answer...

Also make sure you use a toothpaste, mouthwash etc. without fluoride... it adds up over time.

Most holistic doctors say avoid melatonin. While it is natural, it is also a hormone and upsets the natural balance of hormones in body.

Humm.. I have a well and took a sample to the health department for analysis. It came back as having fluoride in it. Seems nature also provides some naturally.

OK everyone: stop eating / drinking lots of things...

From Scientific American, January 2008 "Second Thoughts About Fluoride"

Page 80: A FLUORIDE DIET
The optimal range for daily intake of fluoride—the level that maximizes protection against tooth decay but minimizes other risks— is generally considered to be 0.05 to 0.07 milligram for each kilogram of body weight. Consuming foods and beverages with large amounts of fluoride can put a diet above this range. Below are typical trace levels of fluoride, measured in parts per million (ppm), found in foods and drinks tested at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

3.73 ppm Brewed black tea

2.34 ppm Raisins

2.02 ppm White wine

1.09 ppm Apple- flavored juice drink

0.91 ppm Brewed coffee

0.71 ppm Tap water (U.S.-wide average)

0.61 ppm Chicken soup broth

0.60 ppm Diet Coke (U.S.-wide average)

0.48 ppm Hot dog

0.46 ppm Grapefruit juice

0.45 ppm Beer

0.45 ppm Baked russet potatoes

0.35 ppm Cheddar cheese

0.33 ppm Flour tortillas

0.32 ppm Creamed corn (baby food)

0.23 ppm Chocolate ice cream

0.13 ppm Brewed chamomile tea

0.03 ppm Milk (2%)

Yes, people are getting fluoride from many places and yet for some reason, they keep concentrating on the little bit found in the water supply.

What causes such behavior?

Yes, take melatonin. Easily found in drug stores like Walgreen's, or any health food store.

You certainly don't want to take Melatonin more than for just a few days. Really, the only practical reason for someone to take it is to compensate for jet lag. Otherwise, it'd have to be prescribed under the supervision of a knowledgeable health practitioner, preferably an ND.

In answer to the original question:

Gold and silver both neutralize fluoride, along with calcium and magnesium to a lesser degree.

You can obtain ionically distilled chemical elements (http://www.wateroz.com/)for just such applications.

You forgot one:

Fluoride toothpaste: 1500 ppm

Those products contain fluoride because they're grown/made using fluoridated water.

We can't completely eliminate our fluoride intake, but we can reduce it.

I've been on the raw food diet for the last month, and I feel great.

How does one counteract the effects of fluoride in the body?

Is it possible to compensate with certain types of supplements?

Yes. You can detoxify any chemical substance with the right supplements. The best are Standard Process: http://www.standardprocess.com

They are pure whole food supplements with no synthetic ingredients.

Also, get yourself a Culligan water filter - also the best. They make kidney dialysis machines also - so their filters definitely get everything out of the water.

There is both natural and man-made fluoride in water. You can filter much of it out, but avoid fluoride filters that use aluminum oxide as filtration media, because you don't want to ingest aluminum either. I e-mailed Aquasana (company I bought a water filter from) to ask about fluoride, here's what they said:

Our systems remove 2 of the 4 fluorine isotopes giving you a 40-60% reduction. However, we do not have certified documentation to verify that for you. Our testing documents only list those contaminants that have been certified to be removed at a rate of 97% or greater, with the exception of MTBEs (at 93% is the highest reduction of any filtration system on the market). Another reason it is not shown on the Performance Data Sheet is that, at this point, fluoride is not considered a harmful contaminant in water within the filtration industry or with the EPA. If you are looking to completely remove fluoride from your water, the only filtration media developed at this point is activated alumina which, in turn, adds aluminum to the water during the filtration process. Obviously, that is not a desired result.

The four isotopes of fluorine include two that are a natural occurring minerals and two that are man made by-products, called fluoride silicate, that originated in aluminum
processing plants. The fluoride silicate isotopes are the two isotopes that are considered to be hazardous and are taken out of the water with our filtration systems. The two natural isotopes are not considered hazardous and are not removed from the water.

I have been clinging to hard copies of these same protocols for years, and every one that I have used, has worked. Silver is an amazing element!

I found these protocols online. Check it out for yourself. (http://www.road-to-health.com/_protocol/)

Sweet, well will colloidal silver serve the roll as silver for neutralizing the fluoride?

Gideon

Sweet, well will colloidal silver serve the roll as silver for neutralizing the fluoride?

In the case of the following protocol, the chemical elements referenced are ionically distilled, not colloids.

Fluoride (Counter Balance)

Calcium – 1 oz. daily
EPN – 1 TBL
Gold – 1 TBL (neutralizes the fluoride)
Magnesium – 1 oz. daily
Silver – 1 TBL (neutralizes the fluoride)
Drink only distilled water

Avoid further fluoride:
Soft drinks
Juice from concentrate
Dental Fluoride Treatments
Restaurant dining

I have no problem with the judicious use of colloidal silver, but I prefer the accuracy in parts per million that commercially produced ionic elements (http://www.wateroz.com/minerals/Silver.htm)provide in terms of dosing, and the sub-cellullar particles tend to prevent toxicity.

What, no iodine? I would think that one would be obvious for getting rid of fluoride.

Great topic, It is important to decrease the amount of anthropogenic fluoride you take in as well as Aluminum.
These are two largely used compounds that affect so many different functions in your body.
It is no wonder so many people are coming down with illnesses and diseases that are unexplainable, or so they say.
With all the things being put in our water systems today from VOC's, to illicit drugs, to anthropogenic fluoride, to lead and to large amounts of aluminum and many other chemicals, YOU seriously have to be crazy not to have at least a water filter on your tap water for drinking and I would also recommend a shower filter.

Someone mentioned earlier about Aquasana, a subsidy of Sun Water systems. I have been using their countertop and shower filters for a few years and it has made a huge difference in the taste of the water as well as the amount of water i drink.
I hands down would recommend them but i would suggest you do your own reasearch before you purchase anything these days.

That'd work. Kelp is one of the few things that has large quantities of iodine. Myself, I take 50mg Iodoral (which comes to 20mg iodine and 30mg potassium iodide) per day. Two months of that, and no other real changes, raised my resting body temperature from 97.1, which it had been for years -- a clear indication of hypothyroidism, though I didn't learn this until recently -- to 97.8. It's been six months of that now, and with some help from Armour thyroid as well, my resting body temperature is at a much healthier 98.2. I've also changed my diet quite a bit, and feel a lot better these days.

interesting. i must have benefitted from kelp, or from just eating nothing but organic veg, because i am not cold anymore, and have windows open most of the time , even in winter.
having an infrared sauna helps too, to sweat out toxins.
