WIN A VISIT FROM RON PAUL!!!! - http://www.ronpaul2008.com/meetup

In fitting with Ron Paul’s message of freedom and the advantages of competition, the Ron Paul 2008 Presidential Campaign announces a contest between the 700+ Ron Paul Meetup groups to help raise money for the campaign. The goal for each group will be to submit as many donations to the campaign as possible, either from themselves, family members, friends, or any other citizen who supports Ron’s candidacy.

To those groups that are the most successful, we will award four prizes, as follows:

[A visit from Ron]
TWO (2) GRAND PRIZES: A visit from Ron to your area! Ron will visit your city, meet privately with your Meetup group members, and then speak at a public rally organized by your group.

The grand prizes will be awarded to the following groups:

1.

The Meetup group that raises the most money in aggregate, and
2.

The Meetup group that raises the largest average amount of money per Meetup member, as of today, August 14th 2007. Note: To qualify for this prize, MeetUp groups must raise a minimum of $11,500, or the equivalent of five (5) $2,300 donations.

[Private Conference Call]
TWO (2) FIRST PLACE PRIZES: A private conference call between Ron and your group, and autographed pictures and books for your MeetUp members.

The first place prizes will be awarded to the Meetup groups that finish as the runner up in the two above categories.

NOTE: The Ron Paul 2008 campaign reserves the right to award additional prizes, at our discretion.

[Private Conference Call]
1. The competition is open to any Meetup Group based in the 50 U.S. states and will run from 12:00 AM EDT August 18th through 11:59 PM EDT August 31st.

2. Donations will be accepted online at https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate

or: Download and Print this special Meetup Contribution form (pdf) and mail cash or checks paid to "Ron Paul 2008" to this address:

Ron Paul 2008
3461 Washington Blvd., Suite 200
Arlington, VA 22201

3. All donations, whether made online or by check, must include the Meetup number (not location) to which you would like the funds to be credited. Your Meetup number can be found by going to your MeetUp group online and noting the number in the URL (http://ronpaul.meetup.com/####/). If donating online, enter “MU####” in the Project Code box on the online donate page, where “####” represents your MeetUp group number. If you are donating by check, make sure to write MU#### on you check’s memo line. Any donations from MeetUp members not containing a number will be accepted by the campaign, but they will not count towards the competition. (Note: If your MeetUp number is less than four digits, please enter it with the appropriate number of leading zeroes. For example, enter MU0001 if you are a member of the Pasadena, CA MeetUp group).

Creating a customized link to send directly to your Meetup group members is easy.
Copy and paste the following link and replace "####" with your Meetup group number as described above:

https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/?c=MU####

4. Soliciting money from friends, family, and others is encouraged, however, all funds obtained from citizens who are not a member of a MeetUp group must list your MeetUp number on their check or in the appropriate box online.

5. All donations made online must be submitted between the open and close times of the competition. Any donations received either before August 18th or after August 31st will not be included in your MeetUp group competition totals.

6. Donations that are mailed to our office will be accepted after August 31st, so long as they are postmarked no later than August 31st.

7. Unofficial Daily Standings will be updated and posted nightly on our website at: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/meetup. In addition, we will show live information of recent donations and their Meetup group.

8. We will announce the official winning Meetup groups on our website no later than Friday, September 7th.

Fantastic. Coincidently, I was thinking about a fundrasing contest between the Meet-Up groups with a Grand Prize of a Ron Paul visit to the winning group just about a week ago. Brilliant minds think alike :p .

I wonder if notices were sent directly to the meet up groups. Not all of them may get the notice off of his website quickly and should know right away so they can brainstorm and get organized, etc.

Maybe we should pull a Jennifer and start sending the Meet Up groups messages about this to make sure they know about the competition.

whats my meetup number ???????

That's a good question. I don't know mine either and when I pull my group up, there isn't one listed.

Hopefully they are not talking about the number listed on this page (link below) because that number changes as new Meet up groups are formed and members are added. The meet up groups are listed by how many members they have. Group 1 has the most members, but if group 2 adds more members than group 1, group 2 becomes group 1. This could become as major problem since those group numbers change frequently!

Or is there another number that I am not aware of?

I think if you go to your meetup and look at the url, the number is in there.

Mine:

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/192/?gj=sj8

Si I am pretty sure I am group 192

in fact on your meetup groups main page it also lists the email address for your meetup:

ronpaul-192@meetup.com

so yes, this would seem to confirm that mine is 192.

Grrr.....I just reread the notice. It says:

Your Meetup number can be found by going to your MeetUp group online and noting the number in the URL (http://ronpaul.meetup.com/####/).

I'm a litte concerned that the groups will see this notice. Has anyone got a notice from the campaign about this directly by email yet? I hope it's not just posted on the website as not everyone checks that regulary.

I got an email from the campaign about 10 mins before this was posted here. So yeah, most should see it.

Good deal! I guess we don't have to start a "contact" the Meet Up groups campaign then.

Ron's birthday would be a great time to really kick this thing into high gear. Get everybody in your meetups to chip in some to celebrate!

New rankings, they don't say how much each group have donated, but how far they are from first place!

I don't know, there's a group with 2 people which are $4,500 behind. I think it might be realistic to think that both donated $2,300....
