I think most people have now realized and/or accepted that Ron Paul is not going to be the GOP's nominee. That leaves us with the obvious question of "Have we accomplished anything, or have we just wasted time and money?" The answer is we have accomplished a tremendous amount, and it is just the tip of the iceburgh.

This fall at the convention we will see exactly how much influence we can yield over the GOP. We have the potential to rewrite all of the party rules and platform. All of this is dependant on several things. To maximize our influence we need
1. To get as many delegates as possible, weather bound to Paul or someone else. We need our people there.
2. We need to prevent McCain from clinching the nomination prior to the convention.

If we go to the convention with 200 - 300 delegates, we can potentially make or break the campaign of the eventual GOP nominee. For example. if Huckabee has 900 delegates in a brokered convention, we could be the votes that give him the nomination. Now what do we get in return for this? We can make a deal where the Huckabee delegates vote in line with us for several of our resolutions. They can give us the majority vote to rewrite the republican platform and change the rules to make it easier for RP candidates to get elected in the future. In return we get Huckabee the nomination, which is really a moot point because the democrats will win regardless.

To those of you feeling defeated and hopeless, please dont give up. We are really making a difference here. I know we all wanted instant gratification, but it looks like it is going to take a little longer. It is coming nonetheless.
