Wow. Didn't the Russians say they'd bomb them if they declared independence?

But I thougt that the bombing that the Clinton's did brought peace to the region!

That works every time, doesn't it?

HISTORY: Kosovo, the site of an epic battle between Serbs and Turks in 1389, is considered hallowed ground by Serbs, and the birthplace of their identity. http://snurl.com/1ztck

Here is Serbian President reaction ( what I read about him, he is quite moderate):

17 February 2008 | 17:38 | FOCUS News Agency

Belgrade. Serbia will never recognize Kosovo, Serbian President Boris Tadic said in a televised address, the Serbian media reported.
“Serbia will use all peaceful means so that Kosovo independence is not recognized. KFOR and UNMIK are responsible for preserving the lives of Kosovo Serbs,” Tadic added.
“All state officials and party leaders will act responsibly and together, with maximum responsibility and no extremism,” Tadic noted.
Serbia will not resort to violence, and will use legitimate fight against independent Kosovo.

Here is first reaction from Russian side:

If albanians again begin ethnic cleansing, I think is just a matter of time before serbs goes on Kosovo.

Russia should let them go but will most likely pull a Lincoln on them. I wish my state would succeed.

So....Do you think Bush will put on his 'interventionist hat' and do something? If so, why and how?

Isn't is nice Clinton fought their war of independence for them.

The real thing to worry about is if any of the NATO troops in Kosovo get attacked by Serb forces. We're treaty bound to assist in the defense of NATO member nations, so we'd be drawn into another conflict.

Hooray for entangling alliances!

Yeah I agree, his stories are really good and entertaining. I'll be listening to him agreeing and laughing then the next minute he says something and it want to call him and say you make my head spin.

Well, on the bright side...maybe going into Kosovo again might be less likely to start World War III than going into Iran? We can only invade so many countries at a time, after all ;)

It probably won't start World War III, but it will have worldwide implications.

The US has officially recognized Kosovo as its own state today. We all know that in order for a state to have any merit, it needs to be recongized diplomatically. Agree or disagree with the decision, you have to give the feds credit. At least in this one instance they are consistent with one of our founding values of self-determination.

Well, some US states might follow Kosovo move...
