from another thread . .

Wisconsin seems to be democratic, most people i know are turned off at the mere mention of the word "republican".

Birthplace of the Republican Party was in Wisconsin at The Little White Schoolhouse in Ripon, Wisconsin.

i'm aware of the fact WI was the birthplace of the Republican Party, however since we have had Bush in the White House as a republican the majority of WI has moved to the democratic party because no one in their right mind wants to associate themselves with the "republican" party.

Most history books speak of the first inklings and beginnings of the Republican Party
as an organization of a group in The White School House in Wisconsin.

Lincoln was NOT there - his political career came LATER - as did any hyperbole about Jackson, Michigan I guess.

Lincoln was only the first republican president so it is easy to be misinformed about this Sarkin -
check the dates to easily see which came first.
