(Please forward to your meetup groups)

Dear Ron Paul Supporters,

Ron Paul is succeeding in his original intent for running, and that is to get his message out there. Already, Ron Paul supporters everywhere are joining the GOP and changing the platform like in Alaska (http://www.dailypaul.com/node/36385).

Now Ron wants to do the same thing at the National Convention: http://people.ronpaul2008.com/campaign-updates/2008/02/15/become-a-delegate-for-ron-paul/

Not only do the delegates choose the Presidential and Vice Presidential nominee, they also set the platform for the National Republican committee. Imagine the handful of Ron Paul delegates going around and influencing other delegates to push for their platform reform. To do so, we need delegates.

Guess what folks, Vermont, our independent minded neighbor, is a prime source for delegates. Its a winner-take-all OPEN primary on March 4th. Because its an open primary, most of the independents will probably vote for Obama, taking away from McCain. In addition, voter turn out will likely be low since the media has ordained McCain the nominee already. It is up to us to help the Vermont Ron Paul grassroots to convince their voters that a vote for Ron Paul is not lost, but will carry a powerful message across America when Ron gets all 17 delegates.

Winning Vermont is very doable. It is the state where some towns have an arrest warrant for George Bush should he ever set foot in their town. The population is only 600,000 people and most of them are liberals, making the targeted voter group really accessible.

Action Plan:

Here is the simple game plan that each one of us can do for a few bucks and a few hours:

1) Sign up to be a Precinct Leader for Vermont at https://voters.ronpaul2008.com/. If you are already a Precinct Leader, you may need to use a different email address. Pick empty precincts and Locations where there are no meetups like:

Central VT:
Montpelier, VT 05602
Arlington, VT 05250
Killington, VT 05751
Manchester Center, VT 05255
Springfield, VT 05156
Chester, VT 05143
Ludlow, VT 05149

Southern VT:
Pownal, VT 05261
Stamford, VT 05352
Readsboro, VT 05350
Whitingham, VT 05361
Jacksonville, VT 05342
West Halifax, VT 05358
East Dover, VT 05341
West Dover, VT 05356

SW VT:
Bennington, VT 05201
North Bennington, VT 05257

2) Download the Spreadsheet version of the walking lists. Since there are no registered parties, sort in Excel by Conservative scores higher than 75 and pick people who have G=Gun Rights, L=Right to Life, and T=Less Taxes as your list. Erase the rest in Excel. It should cut the list down nicely.

3) Download this sample letter: http://files.meetup.com/637551/RonPaulLetter.doc
and modify the top and bottom with your name and information. Use the Excel file of your precinct as a Mail Merge. Email me if you need help. Print out the letters and sign them by hand.

4) Download and print this 2 sided flyer (Conservative Reagan flyer): http://files.meetup.com/637551/Ron_Conservative.pdf

5) Include either a Gun Owners, Right to Life, and/or Tax Slim Jim depending on the list. Get really cheap SlimJims ($1.25 per 100) at http://www.ronpaulprinting.com/order.html. (Note: Gun Owners SlimJim must be ordered at the www.ronpaul2008store.com at $5 each 100). In rural areas, include the Small Farm SlimJim.

6) Buy clear window envelopes (make sure the outgoing address lines up) and stamps. Do at least 100, but more is preferred.

7) Mail them ASAP.

8) Followup after 3 days with a phone call.

Conclusion:
Vermont is a state that Ron Paul can win and make a big difference in the convention. We did very well in our states, imagine if each of us just spent a couple of hours and a couple of bucks in a state that has a smaller population? This is easy, especially for a battle harden Ron Paul supporter who never gives up. Your efforts will pay off, since no matter what you are opening up more people to learn about Ron Paul's message.

For freedom,
Steven Vasquez

Vermont is one of the states that has an ongoing secession movement. It has attended conventions. This is surely a very independent state.

In Vermont, nascent secession movement gains traction

Vermont is a state where we need to push hard the message of Ron Paul.

Thanks, Steve! Barre is also very large, consisting of Barre City and Barre Town and so far there is only one precinct leader there.

Another oft-overlooked part of the state is the Northeast Kingdom (Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties). This is the most rural part of the state, there are still lots of small farms and hunting is very important to life here. Also, most businesses are family-run operations. The economy is very depressed and the people here are highly concerned about property rights so if anyone happens to have literature pertaining to these topics including it in the mailings certainly would not hurt. Vermont has also lost the most soldiers to this war (and others) per capita than any other state. Veterans slimjims are highly relevant.

If we get Vermont, I will be able to set McCain back on his delegate projection, which I will find fun to do since I've only had to increase his numbers since starting it.

Well the purpose of this s to get other states, especially neighboring states like NH, MA, NY, and CT to help out in VT and to do mailings and phone calls. This state is important, because it is one that is winnable, but only if people put a real effort.

Winning Vermont would cause a resurgence for the Ron Paul Movement. Do this for your country!

Bump from a former Vermonter.
I disagree with the OPs comment that Vermonters are 'very liberal' unless you consider your average liberal to be carrying a sidearm and driving a 4WD rig.
VT has the best gun laws in the nation. Open or Concealed Carry is a right for every person who is in the state, resident or not, no permits needed.

GO VT and CC Hardy Marcia (SP?) (VT LP)on this mission.

I meant liberal from their voting history, in reality many people tend to behave conservative in life even if they vote liberal.

Good idea. Any ideas about going after the older vote?

You can include the Seniors SlimJims:

http://www.ronpaul2008.com/files/Senior%20Slim%20Jim.pdf

and talk about his 50 year marriage with Carol, 18 Grandchildren, delivered 4,000 babies as an OB/GYN, and his experience as an Air Force Surgeon during the Vietnam War era.

The taxpayer's best friend slim jim is a good one for seniors. Many older people (here and everywhere) have to work to make ends meet.

The VT grassroots via meetups have been raising money independently and have begun to place ads in newspapers. The first ads are running this week in central VT and the NEK (Northeast Kingdom). We are also targeting radio ads on a conservative
talk show. If anyone would like to help us with contributions we would greatly appreciate it-- $5, $10, etc... Please pm me for more info.
