Phew, what a week -- what a great week in Iowa. But first the important news: my wife Carol had a heart-pacemaker implanted on Sunday, and she is doing much better. She had a scare -- me too! -- and we are both so grateful for all your good wishes and prayers. They worked. And now she is safely back in Texas.

As I campaigned from morning to night in the August heat the last week, sometimes I'd get tired. And then I'd think of all the supporters, working in Iowa and so many other states, who never stop no matter how tired they are. Could I ever do less? Never. And I never will.

What could be more important than this movement of ours -- for freedom, peace, and prosperity? We hold the future of our country, of our children and grandchildren, in our hands. We can never stop, never flag. And we never will.

One old friend compared this campaign to the tortoise, and our opponents to the hare, in the old Aesop’s fable. The hare was fast and flashy, but because of over-confidence and carelessness, he lost the race. The tortoise kept going, step by steady step, taking nothing for granted, never giving in, never giving up, and winning the race.

In Iowa, we took some good steps forward in our race. Considering the converts we made, the organization we brought forth, and the amount of money we spent as compared to the others, we are on the right trajectory.

And now, after I make sure Carol is well taken care of, I am off to New Hampshire, and campaigning in Texas for our straw poll on September 1 (http://www.texasgop.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Straw_Poll_Home).

This our moment. Not only because Americans are sick and tired of foreign wars, of the oppressive income tax, of growing restrictions on our precious liberties -- but because spending, deficits, and Federal Reserve troublemaking have brought on a global financial crisis that endangers all of us. Now, of all times in our modern history, we need the message of sound money and economic freedom taught to all our people. How desperately we need the truth.

This is a dangerous time for all we believe in. Now, above all, we must spread the truths of the Constitution, of the rule of law, of life, of peace, of freedom, of an America that will truly be a city on the hill.

Join me in doing just that, with your most generous donation (https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/). We have a country to win.

Sincerely,

Ron

Haha you beat me to it. I'm glad Carol is fine, and each and every message he sounds more defiant and hopeful. I think the efforts of everyone have paid tremendous dividends in his confidence and realization that he can win this thing. Let's keep it up!!

... Ron didn't end his correspondance with "The End is Near" btw. That was just the sig of the OP. :)

You know what would be GREAT?! A MASSIVE RECESSION RIGHT NOW. That would definately put a whole truck load of people in the right frame of mind for new economic polocies: AKA, "SOUND MONEY". That would HAVE to gather tons of Ron Paul support from those who were crushed by the boom/bust cycles of the Fed Reserve system.

I Don't quite think it would be 'great' but I agree that it would wake allot of people up to the economic realities America faces.

I'm afraid it would give the Democrats a platform. They can promise all sorts of helpful programs to drive us farther into bankruptcy.

I've been saying this over and over (everyone at work thinks I'm insane because of my glee every Monday when I hear any sign about falling stocks). Yes it is insane, but all the others have the most ridiculous ideas about how the economy works, except Ron Paul.

Why put that trash up next to a message from Dr. Paul. It hurts him badly. Cease and desist.

Calling for a massive recession? Have you any brains at all?

The End Is Near was his signature...

and I'm sure what he said about a recession was meant tounge-in-cheek.

surely, you understand cynicism.

It's a stupid signature, particularly set next to Dr. Paul's name. Makes his life a whole lot harder. Do you really think that the newspapers are going to say, "Oh well that's just his signature." Whoever he is ought to be purged from this Forum. People who say things like that will doom Dr. Paul's candidacy. Truthers, emos, single-issue marijuana advocates, as so on as I believe Kudlebear has outline somehwere here. Perhaps worst of all, the imbeciles who were on the radio the other day while the straw vote was going on.

Remember what happened last time? It gave the Democrats, and their Máximo Líder (and his clone after he died), twenty years to firmly establish socialism in America. A little taste might be helpful, but after a full-out crash I'm afraid any voice of sanity will be drowned. In fact, I half suspect that's the plan; I know the intent is to destroy the United States as any kind of example of an alternative to how the rest of the world is governed/controlled. The only question is can enough Americans wake up soon enough to stop it? The hour is late. It's going to be an interesting ride...

Sweet-Mother-Mary-Joseph man! 0zzy (the Original Poster) didn't freaking BREAK the story EXCLUSIVELY HERE on RONPAULFORUMS.COM. It was put out by Ron Paul via HIS emailing list that many of us are subscribed too. NO MEDIA OUTLET will read THIS FORUM to find the latest statements from Ron Paul.

And yes, I do understand that a recession is NOT a fun thing. It WILL hurt ALOT of people in MANY ways. It is however inevitable given our current fiat money, and the sooner it happens the less drastic it will be.

Did I say anything about Ozzy's story? If people here can't even stick to the issue at hand--and see that words have serious consequences, as you apparently don't, you ought to resign at once. And what the hell is Zanderkoad? That's a dumb name to give to one's self on what should be a dignified forum.

Yes. You said something about Ozzy's signature here:

It's a stupid signature, particularly set next to Dr. Paul's name.

If people here can't even stick to the issue at hand...
and RIGHT AFTER that, you resorted to personal attacks... thus failing to stick to the issue at hand:

And what the hell is Zanderkoad? [sic] That's a dumb name to give to one's self on what should be a dignified forum.

To stay true to form, I will not respond in kind. Rather, I will address the only rational question posed (despite the fact that it was a personal attack). My internet name "ZandarKoad" (you misspelled it) is a rough transliteration of my real name. I began using it when I was quite young because I thought it sounded like a cool wizard name or something. Now I use it just because I'm so used to it and it's really easy for me to remember. Hopefully my response was more dignified than my name, and we can resume discussion of topics with greater import. :)

It very frustrating to talk to people who can' read. Here is the message I posted:

End is Near is Apoco or whatever the hell his name is.

A massive recession would not be great, as many Americans will suffer. However many Americans are suffering right now, being foreclosed on, being thrown out in the streets, and in financial ruin, due to the real estate bust, caused by the privately owned Federal Reserve bank corporation. This fact should be preached as one of our campaign platforms, and why we want to get rid of the Federal reserve.

If you think it's bad now, you ain't seen nothing yet, as there are twice as many foreclosures scheduled to happen in the next two years.

This is nuts. Trying to defend the indefensible sin of associating "Ron" with "The End is near. Are you with me so far? And then calling for a recession is even more indefensible. Are the people here who said these things trying to hurt the campaign or are they just ignorant? Either way you don't belong here.

Wishing for a recession is not much different that the neocons wishing for another 9-11 so people will get behind Bush again. The point is to get the right people in so that it doesn't happen.

We don't need to wish for a recession, we are going to have one regardless...inflation points to a big bubble breaking on the backs of the middle class and poor.

I agree, just pointing out that the poster above should be a little more careful about what he wishes for. I'd hate to have him rub the wrong lamp and really get us in trouble. :)

Nope, the Federal Reserve has it all under control.
