Iowa GOP Straw Poll Placing

11 - John Cox (41 votes)
Not sure who he is, had about 5 supporters at the event (most likely family.) Um... not sure what to say.
FAILED / SHOULD GET KNOWN BEFORE SPENDING ALL THAT MONEY FOR AN EVENT LIKE THIS

10 - John McCain (101 votes)
Had more votes then last time! But this once upon-a-time "front-runner" seems to have lost most of his support, and his money.
MEDIOCRE / SHOULD DROP OUT

9 - Duncan Hunter (174 votes)
He had less votes then two people who weren't even at the event and one who isn't even an official candidate yet!
FAILED / WILL DROP OUT

8 - Rudy Giuliani (183 votes)
Giuliani might not have attended the event but he did end up attending 26 events and received only 7 votes per event. Doesn't seem like he has many loyal fans in the state of Iowa, most likely because of his support of pro-choice in a state with pro-life voters.
MEDIOCRE / DID RIGHT BY NOT GOING

7 - Fred Thomson (231 votes)
Fred Thomson was thinking about going, asked his supporters to donate so he could attend, and ended up with a whomping $1,000. He didn't end up going but a few fans did set up a "Fred Head" tent and ended up sleeping in it for the most part. He's lucky people know him from Law & Order or he wouldn't have half the support he has now.
MEDIOCRE / SHOULD DECIDE WTF HE'S DOING AND GET SUPPORTERS WHO HAVE MONEY

6 -Tommy Thompson (1,009 votes, 7.3%)
Thompson didn't do well at this event. He went to EVERY SINGLE county (99 total events) in Iowa and placed 6th of an expected 2nd. He didn't do well at all.
FAILED / WILL DROP OUT

5 -Ron Paul (1305 votes, 9.1%)
Many anti-Paul advocates have hailed this as a huge failure. However this is a good showing, not bad but not great. He attended 17 events and received 76.76 votes per event. And for campaigning in Iowa for only a week, not spending money on buses, and receiving 805 more votes than he paid for, I'd say he did pretty well, especially for voting against corn funding in the state of corn.
GOOD / WILL CONTINUE CAMPAIGN WITH CASH IN POCKET

4 -Tom Tancredo (1960 votes, 13.7%)
Tancredo had attended 66 events and received only 29.7 votes per event. Considering he spent all that time in Iowa, that's pretty bad. He had a lot of votes for his views on immigration, but people apparently don't respond well when you want to bomb holy Muslim cities.
FAILED / WILL DROP OUT

3 -Sam Brownback (2192 votes, 15.3%)
Brownback spent A LOT of money on this event. He paid for buses that went all around Iowa, tickets for thousands, and attended 115 events in Iowa receiving only 19 votes per event. This was a huge failure for Brownback, financially and supportively. Someone even heard one of the staff members say "this is a big disappointment". They invested way too much time into this.
FAILED / WILL DROP OUT

2 -Mike Huckabee (2587 votes, 18.1%)
Huckabee was really the only winner at this event. He attended 70 events and received 36.9 votes per event and was wise enough to not invest more money then that. No buses for him, though I'm not sure how many tickets he bought. Either way he came in second taking the lead over similar candidates like Brownback and should be partying after this.
WINNER / WILL STAY IN

1 -Mitt Romney (4516 votes, 31%)
Romney spent WAY too much for this event. Millions of dollars was invested into buying tickets, buses, food, hotel rooms, and a prime spot at the event. In fact, he bought 10,000 tickets (event expected 40,000 voters) and less than half that was used. The Romney staff was very upset after the event and this was overall a financial failure.
FAILED / WILL STAY IN WITH A BRUISED EGO

So who do we have left in the race to become America's Next President?

John McCain (for now)
Rudy Giuliani
Ron Paul
Mike Huckabee
Mitt Romney

So we're down to 5 candidates, who will win? The next debate will take place at the end of the month with only 4 candidates attending: John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, Ron Paul, and Mitt Romney. Tune in to ABC when it happens.
