View Full Version : The Mosiac Ad In The Ames Paper

SO, all you missionaries who went to Ames - did you see the ad?

HOw did it look when you saw it up close and personal?

My husband said he's going to show it to their ad department to see if it might have to potential to win an advertising award. He was absolutely impressed when he saw it, and that was after me talking it up for 3 days.

Bear in mind my husband is *not* in advertising, so don't get too excited just yet.

The newspaper just called to get my payment information.

Did anybody get a picture or RP with the ad? And any comments from him?

some genius printed out a bunch of these ads on what i *think* was 11x17 paper. Very nice of them to do -- there were about 150 free copies -- at least $100 bucks anywhere I know of.

so I ran and grabbed one and got the good doctor's signature. I couldn't guage any reaction whatsoever to it from him, to be honest. I couldn't tell if he had seen it, loved it, didn't love it, etc etc -- but I know i'll treasure it. RP's so my hero!

Yes, run it all over.. of course you will have to abide by FCC LAWS and such.... print it, poster it, newspaper ad it.. put it in local magazines on health etc.. anywhere and everywhere..

I can help you with the ads once you are ready to move forward. I will be making available the original editable PSD so you can modify.

This ad is going to be legendary - both the ad itself and the story behind it. When Ron Paul is President and the new editions of high school history books are then accurately rewritten and added to the curricula of US high schools everywhere to replace the revisionist history now being taught, that ad will be the full color picture on the 2008 Presidential Election chapter.

10,000 people times $20.56 each doesn't seem so bad now. Besides it is international. How does one set up those challenges to donate money to? Will they run a Ron Paul ad? Also the PR from all those Ron Paul supporters running the ad could have a lot of free mention in all the MSM. More bang for the buck. Now thinking on it more it could work. Everybody that see's that ad likes it and it could help it win a contest. Could it contain a 3 word key campaign slogan? Think of all the possible donations it could bring in, like donating $20 for the ad brings $40 to Ron. Just some thoughts.

This is such a good ad, we need to get it put in all the papers important to primary votes. I am up for donating to get it placed. We need somebody make the decisions which papers is can most effectively be run in. We have to remember that the people we have to reach are the early primary voters. If we don't reach them none of the rest of us will get to vote for Dr. Paul at all (except as a write in).

I just emailed We The People http://www.givemeliberty.org/ads/ seems they have experience in running full page ads all over the USA including USA Today. I wanted to know how the get good rates. Does anybody know them?

This was at the bottom of their web page.

Run the Ads in Your Own Local Papers !

IMPORTANT: Anyone planning to spend a large sum of money to run the ads in a newspaper (or to have a local print shop print a large number of copies), may want to follow what some others are doing. Ask your newspaper for their "not for profit" rate. Send, or wire that amount to us. We will immediately resend that money to your newspaper. You could save a lot of money if We The People Foundation for Constitutional Education, Inc is a sponsor of the ad. For instance, the cost of the Kansas City ad was lowered from $29,000 to $16,000. Please note also, that if you pay income taxes, the cost of the ad is tax deductible if you send (donate) the money to the Foundation, and the Foundation, as the sponsor of the ad, sends the money to the newspaper

Would this be the way the PAC would work as non profit?

Very nice. When you looked at it close up, did it look ok?

The mosaic pics were a bit pixelated, but overall it was very nice.

I even saw a guy at Ames who had that image ironed onto his shirt.

I asked him how he did it, and he said he found it on some blog site, and downloaded it, printed it onto iron on paper, and put it on his shirt.

It was hella cool. :D

Just as an FYI I have folks in SC bugging me to get camera ready artwork for a local newspaper run here.
Do you still plan on uploading it to my server when ready?
Take your time, I don't wanna rush you, just passing on the info about the high demand for this piece of work.

Thanks,

You'll get the hang of it. It's a pretty powerful tool.

Also, if you tag your pics with "Ron Paul" (use the quotes), they'll be picked up and displayed on various websites using the Flickr API, including http://www.ronpaul.name and a new one I'm working on for Razmear.

Why not make this an activity for every local meetup to get the Ad into a local paper?

I think we could be a lot more effective that way than with a single Ad in USA today or NY Times.

And even at 1/2 page size, it would still be effective.

Good point. Try to get the ads run in local papers, and maybe have a centralized effort such as a large paper for the media attention. right now we need many people to hear about him and one paper wont cut it

Could we get an unflattened version of that mosaic so we ca enter alter it to our will?

You might say this paper carries this day's news around the country. USA TODAY is the #1 daily newspaper in the US, with a circulation of 2.3 million. First published in 1982, it is available throughout the country and through international editions;
