As most of you probably know, Washington DC has a NO FIREARM law... nobody can carry or possess a firearm inside of the City Limits of Washington D.C.

WE CAN DO THIS IN ONE OF 2 WAYS... WE CAN ALL BREAK THE LAW AND RESIST THE BAN, BY CARRYING OUR LAWFULLY REGISTERED WEAPONS (NOT A GOOD IDEA)

- or -

WE CAN PROTEST WITH SYMBOLISM, TO BE DISCUSSED IN THIS THREAD (DEFINITELY A GOOD IDEA, WE'LL HAVE THE NRA AND OTHER GUN GROUPS ON OUR SIDE!!!)

I recommend a concerted effort to wear specific clothing, an arm band, a bandana, etc... something to show our unity with the people of DC and the illegal ban on weapons inside of the City Limits of DC.

What can we do, and how?

how about we all buy toy shotguns and carry them with us?

lol. you do that, but stand well away from us please :D

seriously, nothing like that... perhaps arm bands, etc.. something to symbolize unity... we need to do this and get the word out to NRA, and gun owners of America, etc.

1,000,000 people outside the white house with ak-47 airsoft guns.

*sigh* That would go over REAL well.

I think white wrist bands would be a good idea, but I forget the exact story as to why. It has something to do with a proposal that was to mark slaves, but it was rejected because they did not want the slaves to know how many numbers they had. If they knew they had more numbers they might rebel.

We would show our numbers. Would be cool if everyone would have on white Ron Paul Revolution wrist bands at the march. That would be awesome. I wonder if someone makes them so we could suggest it to everyone. That would be the coolest ever.

Listen, the 2nd amendment is important to me too, but this march is NOT the place to do it. There will be families with children and lots of law enforcement.

I say HELL NO. And I won't vote in your poll, it's skewed. Just like any other RP supporter, this is just your pet agenda. Make up your own march to promote this, it's not about this issue.

Freedom is every Amendment... Second is definitely one of them. The Second Amendment to the US Constitution is the defender of every other right. I'm not proposing that we violate the law, merely that we also show our support for our DC Brethren, whose rights are being violated. RP VOTED TO LIFT THIS BAN.

ps yes, the poll is skewed towards guns rights... its in the constitution, there is no need for a poll.

This march is in support of the whole constituton. I don't think we should single out one item and make it the focus. Especially since the gun issue is one of the toughest. I do believe that the second ammendment is super important.
But there are lots of constitutional rights that are being killed right now. And to be honest, if we want our numbers to increase, we need to hype ALL areas. Free Speech, Privacy, etc. We want other people to join us because of this march. Unfortunately the gun issue is too polarizing in my opinion. We need to include it, but not make it our pet issue.

Hence this thread, asking how we could include it... any input, or are we just going to crap all over the idea?

If we were all armed and ready to take action, our rights would be in tact.

lol chill, I wasn't being serious. just replying to the original post that real guns would be a bad idea(it would) so why not waterguns as a protest :) again not being serious, it wouldn't make a good image on us.

I figured that was a joke...

I'm a little more worried by all of the gun grabbing socialists posting in this thread, talking about "I know guns are a right and all, but can't we just forget about them for this one day"

as if the right to bear arms is somehow less important than Habeas Corpus... uh, HELLO, its the SECOND AMENDMENT... the right to a trial is 4th... think about this.

You wear your powdered wigs in defense of the 4th Amendment, and we'll wear arm bands in defense of the right to bear arms.

I agree that it's wrong that DC bans guns, and it's obvious from the crime levels that it's a bunch of crap. I'm willing to show support for all the amendments simply through a rally for freedom for all.

I view this as an act of civil disobedience and I avoid physical confrontation when I can. A bunch of armed RP supporters will only escalate this with the current powers that be. You can call me a coward, but I'm not only interested in the 2nd amendment, I'm interested in all our freedoms.

I'm very interested in my own freedom, and I do not want to be a martyr and go to jail for violating one particular law, no matter how unconstitutional it is. If you'd like to be a martyr, feel free, I'm just hoping you don't do it at this particular rally.

I'd definitely get behind the idea of wearing arm bands in support of the 2nd.

Wigs, not so much ;)

uh... hello... did you read ANY of this thread before posting?

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT 2 OPTIONS HERE... NOT A GOOD OPTION, and the ONLY option, which is symbolic/peaceful protest... the poll options are tongue in cheek, because we already know the answer... just giving people something to laugh at a little.

NOBODY BRING A WEAPON. Everyone can protest this specific law by finding a way to group together in protest...

For instance... Anyone who wants to specifically protect the Second Amendment in DC can wear their ORANGE HUNTING VESTS... or ORANGE HUNTING HATS, etc... anyone wearing bright orange hunting attire would be known to stand up for the second Amendment, etc... or ORANGE WRIST BANDS... get it?

We're not advocating BREAKING THE LAW, we're advocating ENFORCING THE LAW, and removing the ban... you can advocate for things that you aren't necessarily doing. I figured that maybe if someone was smart enough to vote for Ron Paul, they wouldn't be so dense to ignore the entire topic and post a random diatribe about how they feel like they are in danger... from... wrist... bands???

FAIL.

I agree that there's no problem with the symbolic route, but there were a couple of posts here suggesting that we be armed when we go into DC and I disagree with that. Not because I don't think the DC laws are bad, but because it's unwise to do.

Arm bands/wrist bands--I'm completely on board and never suggested otherwise.

Fail this jo.

Why don't we bring muskets? I'd bring a toy one, but if you are brave enough to pit your 2nd Amendment Right against the District Laws, bring a real one. It'll be a symbol, both of the right to bear arms, and an homage to the Patriots that won our liberty from the Tyranny of the Crown.

Waterguns are playful and keep the July heat down.

Like Thailand's paper crane bombs, it says "next time they might be real."

Why is it you people are trying to hijack Ron Paul and his message? You should all be ashamed. Yeah bring your guns.. Bring your 9-11 truther signs... Bring Alex Jones and his bullhorn.. Bring all of your masks and get ready for a riot and some serious blowback.

Ask yourself what are your intentions? What is your end goal? What is the most strategic way I can obtain my end goal?

If getting the crap kicked out of yourself by the cops or maybe you have a death wish and you want to test Bush's executive order powers then by all means this is a great idea..

Otherwise stop it with all of this crazed talk.

This march needs to be a rally planned for and BY Ron Paul for his campaign for president.

The End
